Today marks Nakba Day, an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed.
Inea is a New Yorker and a Nakba survivor. She shared her story with us — one of home, tradition and memory over generations.

@leiane1 They are trying to negotiate, if you think that's abusive, then you need to socialize more.

The dark side of Pokemon.
As you all know, I am obsessed with pokemon.
When I was a kid I could recite all 151 pokemon in ORDER!
Turning that kid dream into an adult reality has always been the goal.
I’m not afraid of hard work and I’m fully aware that any business starting from the ground up won’t be easy.
No one told me however, how awful the community can be?
I’ve been called a c*nt because I wouldn’t sell my cards for cheaper, people expect me to go through all my listings for them, or just stop everything I have going on?
Why is part of the community so abusive and aggressive?
I was out grocery shopping with my partner and these were the messages?
Am I being sensitive or are people like this unreasonable?
P.s the card was listed as DMG so I’m well aware the corners arnt great! 😭

🇺🇸 What @SpeakerJohnson is really saying is that Congress views itself as a class that deserves protection from the economic conditions ordinary Americans are expected to live under.
When inflation destroys your purchasing power, you’re told to budget better, work harder, cut back, or accept it.
When inflation affects Congress, suddenly there is sympathy, concern about quality of life, and arguments for why they need access to stock trading and other advantages to “take care of their families.”
That’s the hypocrisy people are angry about.
Social Security recipients fall behind the real cost of living for years. Working people absorb higher housing costs, insurance bills, debt, and groceries directly. Meanwhile the political class keeps finding ways to protect itself while claiming the system cannot be changed.
That clip wasn’t just about stock trading.
It was a glimpse into how the governing class actually sees itself compared to the public.

@BlackRockFact @Megatron_ron You'd say that, wouldn't you? But if AI means "economic growth" then why would ordinary citizens destroy their own income? Or is it economic growth only for those becoming trillionares?
English

Larry Fink’s comments are being distorted. He was discussing the need to protect critical infrastructure. His larger point was about the scale of investment needed to build the infrastructure powering AI and economic growth, and the importance of making sure more people benefit from that growth. So let me get this straight…
The public are being told facial recognition cameras, Digital ID and eventually digital currency are all about “security” and “safety”.
Meaning every payment, every document, every movement could one day be linked directly back to YOU.
But here’s the part hardly anyone talks about…
MPs and members of the Royal Family are reportedly exempt from parts of Digital ID systems for “security reasons”.
So the people making the rules won’t fully live under the system themselves.
Ordinary people could end up tracked, monitored and fined through one giant digital network… while the political class sit outside it.
And they wonder why trust in government is collapsing.

Did Andy Burnham actually ring up Sky News and say “alright love, can you film me going for a run so I look like a normal bloke?”

I can confirm that I will be requesting the permission of the NEC to stand in the Makerfield by-election.
I grew up in this area and have lived here for 25 years. I care deeply about it and its people. I know they have been let down by national politics.
Ten years ago, I decided to leave Westminster. Why? Because, after 16 years, I came to the conclusion that our national political system does not work for areas like ours. I learnt this fighting its failure to invest in the Wigan borough, for justice for the Hillsborough families and against its treatment of Greater Manchester during the pandemic.
Over the last decade, I have been challenging this failure from the outside and building a new and better way of doing politics. We have built Greater Manchester into the fastest-growing city-region in the UK and put buses back under public control, introducing a £2 fare cap to help people with cost-of-living pressures.
However, there is only so much that can be done from Greater Manchester. Much bigger change is needed at a national level if everyday life is to be made more affordable again. This is why I now seek people’s support to return to Parliament: to bring the change we have brought to Greater Manchester to the whole of the UK and make politics work properly for people.
Millions are struggling and they need the Labour Government to succeed. It has already made changes to make life better for them in its first two years. After this week, we owe it to people to come back together as a Labour movement, giving the Prime Minister and the Government the space and stability they need as the by-election takes place.
I want to recognise the difficult decision taken by Josh Simons and the sacrifice he and his family are making. I have worked closely with him as Mayor on issues like flooding and illegal waste dumping and have seen first-hand how effective he has been. He has put the communities of Makerfield first, made a real difference for them and should take great pride in that.
Finally, I truly do not take a single vote for granted and will work hard to regain the trust of people in the Makerfield constituency, many of whom have long supported our party but lost faith in recent times. We will change Labour for the better and make it a party you can believe in again.

@MerruX Well, if your government officials can do it, I guess they have a point.
