BREAKING NEWS: FDA approves once-weekly insulin for T2D The FDA has approved Awiqli (icodec-abae), the first once-weekly basal insulin from Novo Nordisk for adults with type 2 diabetes. This could be a game-changer—replacing daily basal injections with just one shot per week while delivering similar glucose control. CAUTION: But it’s not for everyone. Experts still emphasize potential hypoglycemia risks and the challenge of adjusting doses for changing activity levels. Before prescribing, patients should receiving careful education and use a continuous glucose monitor.
