The land promises were fulfilled per Joshua; the land Abraham talked of is spiritual and fulfilled in Christ, and wasn't promised to every descendant, it was to the spiritual children in Christ (Abraham's seed, not seeds). The land represented the presence of God among the children of Israel; Christ IS the presence of God amongst believers (who are the Israel of God by faith), he dwells within us, we are the true temple, he is the cornerstone. The problem people have is that they don't grasp the concepts laid out by the writers of scripture because they don't study, they just let someone tell them what it means, they just go along with it, and it is usually along a paradigm or system that makes them even more biblically illiterate.
