Through the Turn-a-State-Orange (TASO) Initiative, our health worker Health Champions across primary, secondary, and private facilities came together to boost their skills on Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), led by Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh (DRASA) Health Trust and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention. Participants engaged in hands-on learning, from PPE use and triage to applying IPC tools, moving knowledge into everyday practice. They also developed practical workplans to strengthen IPC systems within their facilities. By the end, the Health Champions were equipped with clear action plans and a shared commitment to safer care. Because no one should suffer from preventable infectious diseases. #drasa #taso #infectionprevention #healthsystems #publichealth

A message of gratitude from the field. Our Health Champions in communities are turning knowledge into everyday action and strengthening health security where it matters most, with support from our partners. This shoutout is to our partner, the African Collaborative @African_Collab. Thank you for supporting a people-centered, top-down and bottom-up approach, and helping communities take charge of their health. Because when people are equipped, change begins to spread, from one conversation to another, from neighbor to neighbor. #drasa #africancollaborative #healthchampions #healthsecurity #communityaction

At Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh (DRASA) Health Trust , strengthening health security means equipping people to lead and contribute to systems that prevent and respond to infectious disease threats. The One Health Youth PALLI Hackathon in the FCT reflects this commitment in action. Delivered in collaboration with the Alliance for Sustainable Livestock @all4livestock and with technical support from Nigeria Centre @NCDCgov for Disease Control and Prevention, the event saw Youth PALLI Fellows translating learning into real-world solutions. From antimicrobial resistance to Lassa fever prevention, participants designed evidence-based, people-centered interventions aligned with Nigeria’s national health security priorities. DRASA continues to develop Health Champions who actively contribute to emergency preparedness and response. Three projects from the Youth PALLI Hackathon will move into implementation, but the broader impact is a growing network of youth who are strengthening Nigeria’s health security architecture. Because no one should suffer from preventable infectious diseases. #dasa #ncdc #healthsecurity #youthpallihackathon

In Abuja, 16 sixteen participants came together under the Turn a State Orange (TASO) initiative to rethink what safe care looks like in everyday practice. Led by the Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh (DRASA) Health Trust and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, the 3-day training moved beyond theory into action. From practical sessions to real conversations participants connected the dots between infection prevention, patient safety, and health system resilience. By the end, participants saw IPC as a daily responsibility, no more as just a guideline. Participants left with tailored workplans, practical tools, and a shared commitment to strengthen IPC systems across their facilities. This is how we move from knowledge to action; from facilities to systems; from grassroots to government. #drasa #ncdc #ipc #taso

Precious Adesoye shares how her participation as Health Champion with DRASA Health Trust shaped her journey as a nursing student and expanded her understanding of healthcare beyond treatment to prevention. Through engagement with DRASA activities in her school, she discovered the importance of infection prevention and control and how youth participation drives healthier practices in communities. What began as a personal interest in bedside nursing grew into a deeper commitment to public health, prevention of disease, and action within her environment. From her experience, early engagement can support young people to see the bigger picture and take meaningful steps in promoting safer health practices. #drasa #ipc #chh #healthchampions #prevention
