I spent my afternoon in Bo with one of the main opposition's leading contenders Chief Sam Sam-Sumana- former Vice president of Sierra Leone. Politics isn't always jabs and fights. He met my mother over lunch, and she happens to know his brother and family. One Country One People

To my surprise and encouragement, today’s pre-legislative session on the constitutional bill unfolded in a spirit very different from the tension many had feared. There was laughter. There were warnings. There were firm positions. The Opposition made it clear they would not hesitate to recuse themselves if procedures are ignored. The Clerk of Parliament assured the nation that under his watch, the right things will be done. The Majority Leader expressed optimism about achieving consensus. Public participation was openly encouraged. And the Attorney-General, with humility, acknowledged that the Bill can — and should — be improved to reflect the very best version of what citizens aspire it to be. The true test now lies ahead — in whether these commitments translate into practice. For now, today’s engagement offers cautious but genuine hope that the Constitution can be shaped for Sierra Leone, not for any single political party. May this spirit of dialogue and responsibility guide the journey ahead. 🇸🇱

Yesterday, several colleague cabinet ministers and government officials joined the family of the late Prof Lawrence Kamara in Potoru where he was finally laid to rest. May his gentle and generous soul rest in peace. He served the country, the SLPP and Pujehun well!
