a lot can be said about ATLA's politics but I do think Aang not simply killing Ozai is one of the most important, resonate choices the show made.
Because it's refusing to cede the very last crumb of a nearly dead culture's beliefs. That's worth something.

The reason why I think we need more insight into Aang's parenting is bcs it is so ambiguous. You have ppl defending their dynamic unquestionably and those who take everything they said with no nuance. My theory is that "all those great vacations" weren't actually vacations.
