I still can't quite believe that Ukraine has had to spend most of 2025 negotiating with the US, their own ally, because the US keeps trying to force them to surrender to russia. This is absolutely insane.

Crimea, Donetsk & Luhansk voted to be part of Ukraine in 1991 - russia invaded anyway. Tatarstan voted for independence in 1992 - russia refused. Chechnya wanted independence - russia flattened them twice. Another Donbas referendum is useless. russia won't respect the outcome.

Ukraine did not start this war. Russia started it. Ukraine supported President Trump’s proposal for a ceasefire. Ukraine has agreed to many different compromises, and this is documented in our draft agreements, in our 20-point plan. Ukraine is willing to do whatever it takes to stop this war. For us, priority number one – or the only priority – is ending the war. For us, the priority is peace. We need to be strong at the negotiating table. To be strong, we need the support of the world: Europe and the United States. And this includes air defenses – which are currently insufficient, weaponry – which is currently insufficient, and money – thankfully, there is now a European decision, but, frankly, there is a constant shortage of funds, in particular for the production of weapons and, most importantly, drones. In this war of Russia against Ukraine, we want peace, and Russia demonstrates a desire to continue the war. If the whole world – Europe and America – is on our side, together we will stop Putin. Because together we will all want the same thing: an end to the war, peace – a normal peace, a sustainable peace, safe for the whole world. If anyone – whether the U.S. or Europe – is on Russia’s side, this means the war will continue. There are no other options here. And this is a risk for all countries in the world. Because Russia will not stop, regardless of any agreements, any eloquent messages from them. They will not stop at Ukraine.

The festive star rises above all of us — above those who defend, and those who wait. This year, many of us are once again spending Christmas far from our loved ones, yet we remain together. In every call from home, in every message asking, "How are you?", in every moment of looking up at the starry sky and knowing that your loved ones are gazing at it with the same hope. We remain at war today so that tomorrow we can celebrate with those we love and protect — with our families and those who are waiting for us and for a miracle. The Christmas star is a sign of our return to those who await us, so that we may begin to celebrate together. We will do everything to come back to our loved ones and to bring home everyone who is forced to celebrate Christmas far from their families today. This is our deepest dream, and all of us are working to make it come true. Happy holidays!
