This is quite staggering, if this is what Leo thinks this is obviously what the powers that be in government feel as well. He said farmers are not as important as they think they are Ireland no longer has to pander to the interests of farmers and the agricultural industry as it is now "not in the best interests of Ireland," Ireland has too much livestock as grain has to be imported from Mercosur countries to feed them as there is not enough grass in Ireland to feed them, farmer do not matter as much as they think they do as 80% of food is now imported to Ireland haulers are more important that farmers as they get the food into Ireland. It looks like the plan is to ensure farmers do not survive "as we all end up paying for them" I am stunned, I would have though it would be more important for Ireland to have foods security and better for the environment not to be importing food from half way around the world but obviously not. So what is the plan for Ireland a refugee colony and a place to build data centers as they consume 27 % of the total grid usage at the moment and 37 % by the end of this year. Did I hear this correctly ?> Comment welcome.

Another powerful showing in the Dail today by @1PaulLawless. Himself and @kenoflynnTD have been two excellent additions to the opposition. 👇👇👇

Simon Harris is today worried about cancer patients because it suits him to use them as a stick to beat protesters. He didn't care about the women caught up in the Cervical check scandal when he lied to them about never having to go to court for compensation. Several women with terminal cancer had to go to court with only months to live. He is a horrible individual and should never be in a position of power.

What about the rest of us? My company has 12 vans on the road and paying nearly €2k per week for fuel. We’re not in the haulage or agri-food sector but we have 85+ employees and subcontractors who still have to get to work and it’s becoming unaffordable for them to do so.

Simon Harris claims no one has the right to restrict movement of people in Ireland. Does he think we all forgot about Covid?

Just in case people still think the government can't lower the price of fuel - Malta is currently selling diesel at €121 per litre. Looks like their government cares about their people. #fuelprotest

Most people don't realise this, but Ireland's only oil refinery at Whitegate was owned by the Irish State from 1959 until 2001 through the Irish National Petroleum Corporation, and then it was sold off by the Government without ever asking the People. Under Bunreacht na hÉireann, Articles 1 and 6 are clear, sovereignty belongs to the People and all power is only held in trust, yet a critical piece of national infrastructure was handed into private and eventually foreign ownership as if it belonged to politicians to dispose of. They were never the owners, they were trustees acting on delegated authority, and trustees are bound to act in the common good, not strip the State of essential assets without public consent. So the real question every Irish man and woman should be asking is this, by what lawful authority was Whitegate sold, and how exactly did that decision serve the Irish people rather than undermine their control over their own resources?

The Government can go 'above & beyond' for certain interests @LNBDublin While we witness shameful scenes of people, protesting to protect their livelihoods being battered & pepper sprayed by forces of the State today. Remember that FFG Government gave a €650m tax cut to developers in Budget 2026 while the rest of us got nothing. And people with disabilities saw a cut of €1400. #FuelProtest ⛽️ #CostofLivingCrisis #CallanElection

In 2020 you stopped breast cancer screening & smear tests.. I was entitled to my free screening in 2022 but no appointment was available due to the backlog.. 2024 diagnosed with breast cancer after chasing the appointment myself so just fuck off Simon!

Simon Harris on RTE six one news saying because of the fuel protestors “cancer treatments can’t go ahead”. Using cancer treatment as a weapon is really scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

@culladgh It doesn't explain how Poland and Spain just ignored these EU directives, Ireland does not have to be the blindly obedient good little boy of Europe all the time, Ireland needs a government that puts its people first.

@culladgh He's being disingenuous here. Other EU countries have done this - It would take years for the EU commission to act upon any infringement and would probably not act on any temp measures. We have the autonomy to reduce taxes as we see fit as a sovereign country.

I hate seeing this Major Irish vegetable company goes into liquidation. Owner Julian Hughes blamed “the last three years of wage and cost inflation” have taken its toll. The rain this winter was the final straw. It goes with out saying that we should be doing everything we can to support Irish businesses but it’s especially true for food producers. Irish Businesses are hanging on by the skin of their teeth right now. FF & FG don’t care. No farmers no food.
