@danmall This is absolutely brilliant. Each time I have a conversation with design agency founders and bring up the "niche down" Convo, they're always defensive with some of the excuses you pointed out here. Love how you explained it and further brought a solution they can lean to. ❣️

After losing over 14k followers, I’ve realised having thousand genuine people who support you is way better than having 10k just for the number.

“Bad design is costing you users.” That’s the designer catchphrase. Meanwhile, the same designer is posting low-quality content that doesn’t say anything. Just aesthetic visuals followed by the same recycled one-liners: “Hero section for XYZ.” “Did I cook?” “Which is better: this or that?” No context or anything that builds trust or authority Designers… You also need to realize that bad content is costing you clients too.

I don't have any working pipeline for getting design clients. I just post and hope they come to me. This is what a design agency founder told me of recently. Went through his timeline and in few minutes, I saw what the problem has been: Good designs but poor contexts!

Another day where Twitter designers are claiming they invented basic things. Now it’s fucking PowerPoint presentation layouts. What’s next, they’re gonna start crying about business card layouts? Jesus Christ 🤦🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️

Yesterday, I saw someone rack up a list using 'the modern day X writing style' of starting with small letters, using full stops to separate the list, and clustering everything. God knows how my head was spinning around why he wrote it that way or how it stressed my brain to read.

People love lists: • They’re easy to read. • They don’t stress the brain. • They make people feel like they’re “learning” something. Use them in your copy, tweets, captions… basically anywhere people pretend to have attention span.
