Ontario students with disabilities are being failed by Doug Ford's government. School boards are required by law to submit special education plans every year. 74% of the plans submitted for 2025–26 flagged serious issues that required Ministry action. There's no evidence the Minister of Education even looked at them. The government isn't funding special education based on student need. Students are waiting over a year for assessments. Kids are being sent home because schools can't support them. This is a total failure.

Just a reminder. School boards across Ontario are making huge cuts to staff and programs right now. Not because they hate kids. Because Doug Ford has stripped away their funding over the past 8 years. Put the blame where it belongs. #OntEd

My classroom behavior improved a lot when I started teaching on Day 1 instead of doing ice breakers and an "about me" powerpoint. Some admin encourage a full week of that! First 10 minutes: Rules and syllabus review. Then we open our books and get started.

The Auditor General’s report has echoed educator concerns. Ontario school boards are spending almost $400 million more than they receive from the Ministry for special education every year. Cuts to essential staff and programs supporting children with disabilities are the norm.

I've posted a lot this week. For those who don't want to scroll back, here they are: You want to fix education? Restore consequences. Stop letting grades lie. Get parents back in the building. Let teachers remove kids who make it impossible for everyone else to learn. Stop making deadlines optional. Stop pretending teachers are only working when you can see them. None of this is partisan. None of this should be controversial. These are common-sense ideas that exist for one reason. The kids. And yet. The hate I have seen this week for daring to say simple, obvious things out loud has been something else. I have a lot more where those came from. Stay tuned. All 56,000 TDSB students in model schools deserve opportunity, support, and a future - Not cuts! All the schools in my area will be impacted by these changes. I know how important model schools are for students across our communities which is why we need to protect model schools

Closing specialized classrooms with high levels of 1:1 support and dumping vulnerable students with complex needs into regular classrooms with no additional supports other than telling their teachers to use visuals is not actually “inclusion”. #OntEd

You want to fix education? Stop pretending teachers are only working when you can see them.

Are not all children in Ontario, entitled by law to an education? How are children who are disabled and their family supposed to manage their education. This government is extinguishing their futures before they even get started. We are watching the eugenics of public education.

Nobody talks about the Spanish teacher who is the PE teacher today. The math teacher is covering the art room. The counselor is teaching English. All of it is happening because there is nobody else. This happens every single day in schools across this country.

I don't care if violent behavior is a manifestation of your disability. You should still be expelled. IDEA needs to be amended so it no longer protects violent children from immediate expulsion or long suspensions. I don't care if I'm called ableist for this take.

Nobody talks about the twenty-eight kids who lost the lesson because the system protected the one who made it impossible.
