@GabrielCStovall I would add that if you’re player at the D2/D3/NAIA level, you’re pretty much in the top 5% of anyone to ever play the sport.

The transfer portal sometimes gives athletes false hope. I’m not saying don’t aim high. But I am saying that usually if you’re D2/D3 caliber from the beginning, 1-2 years isn’t going to magically make you P4. There are success stories, but they’re exceptions. Not the rule.
Expo Recruits@ExpoRecruits

62% of D2 football players that entered the transfer portal have retired. 79% of D3 athletes. 🤯 The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

@DocTalkSports From 1988 to 2024, I was in row 94 of south stadium and I never made a donation for my 2 seats. I got tired of waiting for SS upgrades. Also had a chance to get my wife’s grandparents tickets in west stadium. The donation was going to be $3500 a ticket. We said no.

@DocTalkSports @Huskermax “It decreases your chances of prostate cancer to pee into a trough urinal.” Rob Zatechka. Memorial Stadium should forever have troughs with this quote above them. My wife heard you say this as I’m listening. After she laughed, she says, “Oh my God. He’s just like you.” 😆

The Centennial girls are on fire. Kearney Catholic’s Hazel Haarberg takes down her Class C 100m record of 11.73 from 2024 with a wind-legal 11.55, as evidenced by the thumbs-up sign from our wind measurement official (he later informed me it was a -0.4 m/s headwind). More importantly, she also breaks the All-Class record of 11.64 set by Dajaz DeFrand in 2022. Hazel told me after the race that she knew she was going to break the record as she ran - she had no missteps and was still accelerating at the finish. The wind has died down and her Class C record of 24.04 for the 200m may be in play in a few hours.

@HuskerTapes @acdavisco @NebPublicMedia Great guy, I really liked Ben. After Tommie and Brook locked down the top spots, Ben, Todd Gragnano, and Matt Jones (all three were scholarship QBs) transferred. And I’m pretty sure all three became at least part-time starters at their respective schools.

Ben Rutz (Rootz) committed to Nebraska in the same recruiting class as Tommie Frazier. He later transferred to Kansas and discovered playing for the Cornhuskers was much better than playing against them. @acdavisco Featuring the video from @NebPublicMedia and radio audio from the @HuskersRadio Network, Kent Pavelka. #HuskerTapes

Unless you are almost guaranteed to be a 1st or 2nd pick in the NFL, given the NIL situation, why would anyone leave school early if you are a star at a Power 5?

Who invented "Throwing the Bones?" @jasonpeter revealed the origin of the Blackshirts' iconic celebration on Early Break yesterday. "I saw Matt Hunting, an old linebacker... he did this thing after he made a play where he crossed his arms... and I was like, 'hey Matt what was that,' he said, 'the bones' and I said, 'I like that, I'm gonna take that,'"
