The failure of Republican leadership in both DC and Montgomery to denounce the racist comments of Tommy Tuberville is disappointing but not surprising. It’s time the voters in Alabama show them the way and reject this kind of hateful and divisive rhetoric once and for all. And when we do, the entire country will take notice and take action.

We need to make sure that folks in Montgomery get the message that the way to lower bills and get control of the PSC back to the people and not the power company is to VOTE! PSC chaos continues to dominate the AL legislature. Two bills are coming up - 1 bad and 1 good. SB360 appears to let folks keep voting but it is really just a PSC packing plan where the governor would ultimately have appointed 5 out of 7 members for the next 2 years, with an energy czar that controls all of them out of the governor’s office. I understand Democrats are anxious to have a say to try and lower utility bills but this even worse than the first one. Call your House member and get them to vote NO if SB360 comes up. The second one, the HB475 substitute, is a good bill that requires the PSC to have a rate CASE which has not been done since 1982. Hopefully that one will pass, the other will not, and they’ll let the new PSC try to right the PSC ship after the November elections.

Like so many tonight, I am rooting for "The Alabama Solution" to win the Oscar. But win or lose, this film has thrown a spotlight on a serious problem that needs real reform. Building billion dollar prisons is like putting a bandaid on a serious injury. al.com/news/2026/03/a…

The death of Maj. Alex Klinner is a stark reminder of Alabama’s contributions and sacrifices to our nation’s armed forces and national security. Please lift up the family of Maj. Klinner in your thoughts and prayers and rally to their aid through the following link.

Folks in Alabama have seen this kind of dog whistle, racist rhetoric before and it held us back for decades. We damn sure don’t need this to be the face of Alabama in the future.

Thank you @iamwesmoore for your support of my campaign, but more importantly for the example you have set as Gov. of Maryland where nearly 100k jobs have been created and you have launched bold efforts to fight child poverty, invest in public education and create affordable housing. Governors can make a positive difference in the lives of their constituents. You have. I will. Thank you!

It is hard to express the hope one feels when back in Selma at Brown AME Church and to walk across that bridge with folks who come by the thousands. It was truly a blessing for @louisenewjones and me to be there and to participate. This year was a clarion call for action.

Selma weekend would not be complete without a special shout out and thank you to my dear friend @RepTerriSewell, a daughter of Selma and a tireless advocate for voting rights and AL’s 7th District. Thanks for letting me tag along!

Always love to share a laugh and a selfie with @PeteButtigieg, but his remarks in Selma and Birmingham the next day were inspirational. Thanks for making another trip Pete!

I have said many times that it is the nation’s governors who are now on the front lines fighting for democracy, so it was great to have two of our finest - @iamwesmoore (pictured with Alabama’s next Lt. Gov. @EnslerPhillip ) and @JBPritzker - speaking truth to power in Selma .

The anniversary of #bloodysunday in Selma is about honoring the courage and power of the foot soldiers from that day in 1965, and recommitting to the fight for voting rights. On Sunday, I was honored to march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge with those brave foot soldiers, leaders from across the country, and many Alabamians. So many moments this year energized me for what lies ahead, especially when my friend Annie Pearl Avery, a brave foot soldier from that day 61 years ago, saw me and called me over to tell me that she is with me and to keep fighting the good fight!

As governor, you often have to make hard choices, and I am thankful Governor Ivey commuted the death sentence of Sonny Burton to life in prison without parole. Mr Burton is now 75 years old, frail and has spent more than three decades in prison. He did not pull the trigger that killed the victim, while the life of the man who did pull the trigger was spared in a plea bargain, and he spent his life in prison. Members of the victim’s family and the jury who sentenced Mr. Burton to death asked the Governor to commute his death sentence. Governor Ivey tempering justice with mercy was the right decision.”

During the Selma weekend @louisenewjones and I got to hang out with some amazing folks. One of the most enjoyable times was dinner on Saturday night with one of America’s great governors, my friend @iamwesmoore, his wonderful wife Dawn and DNC Chair @kenmartin73.
Stay tuned for a big announcement from Governor Moore about the Alabama governor’s race!

What an exciting - and exhausting - weekend in Selma this weekend. There will be a number of posts from me to follow but let’s start with Friday’s NAACP 2026 Bridge Crossing Gala in Montgomery. It was great to see so many friends from across the state and the country. Thanks to the NAACP for hosting such an inspiring event and for the important work they continue to do.

Congrats to Coach Maurice Ford and the Fairfield Tigers in winning the Alabama boys 4A state basketball championship, their third since 2020. You guys make all us Fairfield graduates very proud!

On March 7, 1965, my friend and hero, John Lewis, led 600 foot soldiers across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma. It was a peaceful protest for voting rights, but state troopers brutally attacked them as they crossed that bridge. John was one of the many seriously injured that day. The country saw what happened in Selma, and later that year, the Voting Rights Act became law. Today, the Voting Rights Act is hanging on by a thread, and a Supreme Court decision later this year could end it. I often quote John in his fierce advocacy for voting because we must never forget what happened in Selma. With voting rights under attack these days we must recommit to the fight for that sacred right to vote, and most importantly, we must all vote. I will be in Selma this weekend to retrace the steps of those brave foot soldiers, and I hope you will join me at the Edmund Pettus Bridge at 12pm CDT on Sunday.

For the first two months of this campaign, my priority wasn't raising money or attending events. It was recruiting what I like to call The Ticket for Change, and I am proud to say that for the first time since 2006, you will have a choice for every statewide constitutional office on your November ballot. I want you to get to know our Ticket for Change, so I'm going to sit down with each of them over the next few weeks. Up first is my friend, Ron Sparks, who previously held the office of Ag Commissioner for two terms and was the best damn AG Commissioner we’ve ever had. We’re so fortunate to have him running for it again.
