This is what everyone was afraid of. Albanese's Royal Commission will be into everything EXCEPT Islamic Terror, the government's refugee program, and its preference for investigating 'the right' instead of religious hate preachers which inhabit Labor's key election seats.

Twenty five days after the Bondi massacre the Prime Minister has called a Commonwealth Royal Commission.  I welcome the announcement and thank every Australian who advocated for it. The Royal Commission is an opportunity to reset, rebuild and repair our nation. I look forward to contributing to the Commission's work. A Royal Commission is a vehicle for change but is not a guarantee of change. To be effective it must shine a light on the darkest of places, expose the individuals, their motivations and the ideology that is driving the hate and provide a roadmap with practical recommendations to take us all forward. It must be fiercely independent, rigorous, trusted and transparent. The bar is high.  The stakes are higher. Nothing less than reform across society will do. It is a tragic reality that antisemitism has become normalised in Australia. It is a cancer that must be rooted out.  The murder of fifteen innocent people at Bondi Beach did not occur in a vacuum.  It was a predictable product of negligence and indifference to the rising tide of hate, harassment and violence experienced by the Australian Jewish community since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.  There must be more education, more deradicalisation, greater law enforcement and better leadership.  To protect our democracy, we must promote our democracy and the Australian values of tolerance, understanding and a fair go.  This is not about politics, it has never been about politics. It is about securing a better future, a brighter future, a safer future for all Australians. This is why thousands of Australians from all walks of life and from every corner of our nation, joined with the families of the victims and took the unprecedented action to call on the Prime Minister to establish a Royal Commission.  Now that a Royal Commission into antisemitism and the events leading up to the Bondi massacre has been established, Australians have their first real opportunity to get the answers they deserve and the solutions they need. We are all heavily invested in making this Royal Commission a success. The future of our country depends on it.

If the Prime Minister had been as determined to eradicate antisemitism in Australia over the past three years as he has been to avoid this Commonwealth Royal Commission over the past three weeks, our country may not have found itself in the position we do today. The Prime Minister’s decision to finally establish a Commonwealth Royal Commission is not an act of leadership, it is an admission that his litany of excuses have collapsed. For weeks now, Australians watched a Prime Minister fumble and flounder while answers for victims’ families were put on hold. Anthony Albanese relented, not because he believed a Commonwealth Royal Commission was the right thing to do, but because he was forced to do so by the Australian people.

Australians are looking to the Prime Minister to show leadership by listening to the community and establishing a Commonwealth Royal Commission into the Bondi attack and the spread of antisemitism. The families of the Bondi victims are calling for it. Jewish community leaders are pleading for it. The Coalition backs it. Labor backbenchers support it. Senior legal voices across the country say it is necessary. And Australians can’t understand why Anthony Albanese won’t just do it. This is about truth, accountability and keeping Australians safe. The time for words has passed. The time for decisive action is now.

The fact that @ChrisMinnsMP has admitted that armed security guards will need to attend all Jewish events. That we will have heavily armed police roaming our streets to protect us, underlines how derelict, blinkered, inept & incompetent our governments have been. Too concerned about PC & upsetting sections of the community, they have traded & compromised our security, wellbeing & lifestyle. We ain’t no “she’ll be right mate” or the lucky country any more. After stating he doesn’t ‘make the rules’ the Prime Minister tightens the travel restrictions for MPs. He just can’t help himself and stop lying. 👇🏽👇🏽

A Pom who posted pro-Nazi messaging here is up for deportation. Anyone heard of any hate preacher deportations yet? There’s plenty of evidence in the public domain. Are they a privileged class? Seems like it.

As he sidesteps calls for a Royal Commission into the Bondi terror attack, Prime Minister Albanese is facing sharp backlash. What does he have to hide? Senator Matt Canavan calls him out for deliberately shifting the narrative to ‘right wing extremism’ whilst downplaying or outright avoiding the threat of radical Islam. A lot of tough questions need to be answered. Such as how this extremism has been allowed to spread. Diverting to tougher gun laws is not going to deter terrorists and the people get that!

Today the former Chief Justice of the High Court Robert French, former head of the Australian Secret Intelligence Service (ASIS) Nick Warner, former Queensland Premier Peter Beattie, former Federal Labor minister Mike Kelly & Labor Senator Nova Peris, 100 Senior Counsel and current Labor MPs Mike Friedlander and Ed Husic joined the Jewish community and the Coalition in a growing chorus of legal, political, security and civil leaders calling for an urgent Commonwealth Royal Commission into the Bondi massacre.  I urge the Prime Minister to heed this message and announce a Royal Commission now.  It's illogical for the Prime Minister to say "we want urgency and unity, not division and delay" in dismissing a Royal Commission.  Prime Minister you have been delaying taking strong action for the last two and half years. If you want to use alliteration then what we want is accountability and action and not a Prime Minister who is in denial but one who shares our despair. Mr French's words today were powerful and pertinent. He described what needs to be done as a "moral imperative" saying "there is no requirement for governments to put on hold their responses to the (Bondi) attack pending the provision of reports by the Royal Commission. The events at Bondi Beach require a whole of Australia response which transcends politics and which by its very independence generates a powerful force for change." Mr Warner said "at the heart of the horror and tragedy of Bondi lies antisemitism, allowed to fester and grow through years of inaction. This must be addressed and acted on, and a carefully mandated Royal Commission would play an important role." In the days since Australia's deadliest ever terrorist attack, we have heard too many excuses from our Prime Minister and his senior Ministers. We have been told 'you can't legislate against hate'; we have been told 'anti-semitism didn't begin in 2022'; we have been told that it comes to the threat  'we are dealing with a circle of two'; we have been told the priority is a gun buy back not the radicalism in our midst; and now we are told we can't have a Royal Commission because it will lead to 'delays' in the response. Each excuse only compounds the pain of the last week and underscores the need for the Government to take urgent, unprecedented and strong action to secure the safety of all Australians.

2 weeks ago Airbus Albo had no problem with rorting of MPs family reunion provisions. "It's within the rules". "I don't make the rules." Now he is recommending sweeping changes. Labor's polling/focus groups must have been quite damning of the rorts.

An infuriated Barnaby Joyce unloads on Albanese’s massive gun grab. Calls it straight up cowardice. Too scared to confront radical Islam head on. Instead punishes farmers whilst extremists run free. This is a national security crisis and Albanese is not fit to lead Australia.
