Europe does not need a superstate. It needs strong sovereign nations working together. More centralisation in Brussels is weakening competitiveness, reducing democratic transparency, and moving decisions further away from citizens. 📉 Europe's demography is collapsing. In 1990, Lithuania had 3.7 million people. Today, there are fewer than 2.8 million. Lithuania isn't alone in this trend. Today in Vilnius 🇱🇹, Waldemar @TomaszewskiAWPL, leader of the Lithuanian delegation of the ECR Group, officially opened our Study Days. Over the coming days, we will discuss some of the key strategic questions facing Europe - from Europe’s conservative and Christian foundations to demographics, sovereignty and transatlantic security. A good occasion to exchange ideas, strengthen cooperation across delegations and reflect on the future direction of Europe here in the beautiful Lithuanian capital.
