The workshop provided a structured platform for the three institutions to present, deliberate on, and harmonise their respective electoral law reform proposals — a critical step towards building a coherent, comprehensive, and credible legal framework for Kenya's electoral process

The Electoral Law and Governance Institute for Africa (ELGIA) convened a joint workshop on Electoral Legal Reforms on 9 April 2026 in Nairobi, bringing together the @IEBCKenya, the @Kenyajudiciary, and the @ORPPKenya.

Mr. Odhiambo, alongside Hon. Justice Francis Tuiyott, presented Kenya's Electoral Dispute Resolution experience as a comparative reference — contributing to broader discussions on constitutional & legal frameworks, EDR processes, evidentiary challenges, and judicial independence.

Convened by the Judiciary of the Republic of Zambia and the Judiciary Advisory Committee on Elections Management, in collaboration with ELGIA, ECES and UNDP, the workshop brought together Judges to strengthen their judicial capacity ahead of Zambia's August 2026 elections.

ELGIA was proud to be represented by our Executive Director, Mr. Felix Odhiambo, at the two-day Electoral Dispute Resolution Preparedness workshop held at Radisson Blu Hotel, Livingstone, Zambia from 8–9 April 2026.

This initiative shall run up to Tuesday 28 April 2026 and it targets new registration for all, transfers and change of particulars. The launch happened at Shimoni Village – Old Jetty Grounds (Shimoni Fish Port) in Lunga Lunga Constituency in Kwale County.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), in an activity facilitated by the Electoral Law and Governance Institute of Africa (ELGIA) with support from the British High Commission is launching a nationwide Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration on 30 March 2026.

Today Monday 30th March 2026, the Commission led by Chairperson @EEEthekon and Members of the Commission is launching a nationwide Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration drive that shall run up to Tuesday 28th April 2026. The launch is happening at Shimoni Village – Old Jetty Grounds (Shimoni Fish Port) in Lunga Lunga Constituency in Kwale County. The exercise targets new registration for all, transfers and change of particulars. The #ECVR2026 exercise will be conducted at the County Assembly Wards (CAW) on a rotational basis in accordance with approved kit movement schedules as well as Institutions of Higher Learning, Huduma Ceners, Constituency Offices, Huduma Centers, and at the Commission’s Customer Experience Center (Ground Floor, Anniversary Towers). #ECVR2026 #YourVoteYourFutureYourVoice #TalkWithIEBC #StopFakeNews

This landmark event was achieved with support from the British High Commission.

This milestone reinforces the commitment of Kenya's electoral ecosystem to transparency, civic participation, and collaborative governance uniting electoral bodies and the media sector in service of a stronger democracy.

On 27 March 2026, @ELGIA_Africa, facilitated a Breakfast Meeting marking the Pre-Launch of the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) and the Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between @IEBCKenyaand the Kenya Media Sector Working Group (KMSWG).

This milestone under the Kenya Institutional Strengthening Program (KISP) advances efforts to combat corruption and illicit finance while consolidating multi-stakeholder collaboration for systemic change.

Participants went beyond validation to commit to shaping future reforms, reinforcing transparency, and strengthening accountability in Kenya’s legal sector.

ELGIA, in partnership with the @LawSocietyofKe and with support from the British High Commission, convened a stakeholder breakfast meetingto validate the Legal Sector Governance Assessment on 26 March 2026.

With support from the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO), this intervention put evidence‑based planning and accountability mechanisms in place, strengthened IEBC’s resilience, and advanced democratic foundations.

The presentation followed an intensive review process conducted from 17–19 March 2026, which aligned the plan with best practices in electoral governance.

Strengthening IEBC, advancing democracy—ELGIA & FCDO driving impact. On 25 March 2026, ELGIA presented a revised Draft Strategic Plan (2024–2029) to the IEBC Commissioners, marking a key milestone in strengthening the Commission’s institutional capacity.

The Electoral Law and Governance Institute for Africa (ELGIA) appeared before the Senate's Justice Legal Affairs & Human Rights Committee (JLAHC) on March 23 to present its submissions on the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2025, regarding the of the 2/3 gender principle.
