AI in Emergency Surgery youtu.be/6BH629yc5dE?si… via @YouTube When seconds decide outcomes, precision is everything. Artificial Intelligence is entering emergency surgery—not as a replacement, but as a force multiplier. From rapid diagnosis to real-time decision support, AI is reshaping how we think, act, and intervene under pressure. The question is no longer if AI belongs in emergency surgery— but how far it can push our limits.

Listen to ESTES podcast series on Spotify REBOA is an endovascular "internal tourniquet" that stops non-compressible torso hemorrhage. While it offers a vital survival bridge, clinicians debate its metabolic risks, procedural delays, and the high level of technical skill required in high-stress trauma environments. open.spotify.com/episode/50KlaO…

🧠 Is "Mild" TBI really mild? A GCS of 15 can be deceptive. New data reveals that for patients ≥65, the mortality risk skyrockets (OR 26x!). "Mild" describes the anatomy, not the patient's physiology. Don't let the label fool you. ⚠️ 🎙️ Listen to the new ESTES Educational podcast now! #Trauma #TBI #MedEd #EmergencyMedicine #ESTES open.spotify.com/episode/06blNQ…

🚨ERAS in Emergency Surgery: Theory vs. The Reality of the Clock. Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) has revolutionized elective care, but does it survive the unpredictable, time-critical environment of Emergency General Surgery (EGS)? 👀Preliminary data from our global RESCUE Survey shows a stark contrast. Preliminary results indicate: 🔹 The Optimization Dilemma: 60% of surgeons cannot routinely optimize patients. The primary barrier is clear: Limited Time. 🔹 The Implementation Gap: We excel at physical tasks like early mobilization (4.4/5), but struggle with complex standardized protocols like multimodal analgesia (3.7/5). 😎Does this data reflect your experience on the front lines? We need your reality check to define future standards. 👉 Take the 5-minute survey here: form.jotform.com/diemar70/rescue ➡️Your experience matters. 13 months 200 cases of robotic emergency surgery, what an effort from @UTCU_HCR @hgermanstrias @BalibreaJose @jtarasco 👇👇👇
Jose M. Balibrea MD, PhD, FACS@BalibreaJose

@JordiTarasco @JFJulian56 @EnricoMarrano @dr_acaballerob @GTRecerca 🗓️We start 2026 with excellent news: we have already treated more than 200 patients in our robotic surgery program in the emergency department at GTiP. In less than 13 months, this approach has allowed us to offer the best technology to the patients who need it most in more than 60% of the most common pathologies. The results? No major intraoperative complications or conversions, and a significant reduction in postoperative pain and hospital stays. But personally, I believe that the main advantage is that it allows us to offer a minimally invasive approach in extremely difficult situations that we would not have treated even with laparoscopy before. Thank you to everyone who believed in this project from the beginning, to those who believe in it now, and to those who will soon believe in it...but above all, to the patients who place their trust in our institution every day.
