Expo SDK 55 is here😅 React Native 0.83. React 19.2. Legacy Architecture dropped. New Architecture is the default. ◆ 75% smaller update downloads with Hermes bytecode diffing ◆ Expo Router v7 🤯 ◆ Brownfield isolation via expo-brownfield ◆ AI tooling: MCP + agent skills for Claude Code ◆ Expo UI much improved for both Swift and Jetpack Compose There is so much more...it feels futile to try and isolate a few bullets...check out the full release notes and let us know what you think ↓

@trpfsu Ed this is awesome. Love the concept. Could call the app "Despacho" to reference your Peruvian roots!

I ended up making this into an app! Write what’s on your mind, burn it, and get an encouraging quote back. Built with @expo skia, reanimated

Finally unboxing the prize for Most Creative Winner at the @expo App Awards! 🏆 This Seneca Keyboard is a work of art a fitting reward for a project where I pushed React Native to its creative limits. I can't wait to build something amazing with it this year !!! 🔥🔥🔥

React 19 hype is real. But React Native teams are still waiting. New Architecture adoption is crawling. Most production apps stuck on old bridge. Meanwhile Expo's shipping features that just work. EAS Build. Router v4. SDK 55. Sometimes stability beats bleeding edge. #reactnative #expo

🥕🥦 A community package broke when iOS 18 deprecated its API. Then CodePush sailed off into the sunset. These issues (and more) forced the @FoodIsGoodCo team to begin adopting Expo. Below you'll find the story of how they approached adding Expo to their bare React Native app, which libraries they rely on, and which services keep them lean and fast.

🙌 It's almost impossible to find a (non Expo) youtube tutorial covering Expo's Services. Until now. There is a massive new React Native crash course from the talented team at @jsmasterypro. You'll learn how to build with all the shiny new tools in SDK 55. And then you'll learn how to use Expo's Build, Submit, Update, and Workflows services for shipping and maintaining real production apps. youtu.be/4nVoLX2taFg?si…

i worry that this rumored new iOS 26 glass-like solarium design language will lead to lots of poor non-native implementations/clones attempting to mimic this design style without accessing the native components (either b/c of complexity plumbing it through their RN views, or because of perf/battery issues). Sounds like the new components could be more aware of their surroundings + shimmer with gyro/etc which sounds like a battery drain unless done only Apple’s way i’m cautiously curious to see what they new design language looks like. only real concern is that it could lead to reduced contrast and reduced flexibility in using custom elements (only certain types of things look good on blurred translucent backgrounds, but alas we’ll adapt our ways)
Jacob Eiting@jeiting

i missed this but as of March more React Native apps are shipped on RC than Native More Flutter apps than either

Over 50 hours without a fix. Use Expo OTA to instantly fix, update, and rollback changes for all platforms.
Nikita Bier@nikitabier

@RaoulGMI Should be fixed once Apple approves this build. For now, you can turn your device to dark mode. Sorry about that.

I can always count on you for the Expo mention. 🙌 Love expo. Was just telling someone yesterday I think expo is uniquely positioned to build their own ai coding platform focused on mobile. so many of the other tools are so web focused. expo could build a great preview/design environment too
