@BarbaraBleiman The education system in England has had 15 years or so of precisely this kind of instruction but cannot show any significant improvement in KS2 English SATs. All it can show is 'league table' improvement in international comparisons without significant improvement in raw scores.

Gov seems to have moved again on forced academisation. In Sept, it said that LA schs failing Ofsteds would not necessarily be academised. Now saying that all "worst performing schools" -LA or academy - will move to a "strong [academy] trust". So all such LA schs to be academised.

So it appears that the Tories are converts to setting a floor standard for teacher pay. During their 14 years in office teacher pay declined by 12%. Work load and work intensity went through the roof creating a teacher supply crisis the biggest threat to quality education.

Let me be clear on the measures in our Bill: The Tories left schools haemorrhaging teachers. We're restoring teaching as an attractive profession. That means a core expectation of good pay & conditions, with the ability to go further. In other words a floor, but no ceiling.

Re: videos circulating of todays protest. 1) We welcome the ceasfire, but the problems remain. Tens of thousands killed, Gaza brought to rubble, children denied education. 2) We absolutely must defend the right to peaceful protest in the UK 3) The arrest of Chris Nineham is shocking. Chris has been the chief steward for peace demonstrations for decades (inc. 2003 in opposition to Iraq invasion) and has led all of the demonstrations for Gaza peacefully. Peaceful protest is a fundemental democratic right.
