I saw it in Kyoto. The music made space and stimulated my imagination. There was not only movement but also stillness paradoxically by the musical performances. It’s an amazing opera!

back from Japan 🇯🇵! Still adjusting with the jetlag but how nice it was to tour with #alexandredesplat and #solrey’s chamber opera “Silence” - after #Kawabata’s novel. Amazing audience and response in Kyoto and Yokohama ! The show goes on ! 🌏Next stop- China in June 🤩

Silence at Kanagawa Prefectural Music Hall: If my ears were correct, bariton Romain Bockler sang over 3 octaves (including falsetto). Bravo! Judith Fa and Laurent Stocker did great jobs too.

Went to the Japan première of Silence (Desplat) at Kanagawa Prefectural Music Hall. A chamber opera based on Yasunari Kawabata's short story. Enjoyed it very much! Pity that this is a one-time performance.
