Un ex sito militare dismesso trasformato in un polo interuniversitario attivo, dedicato alla ricerca e all'innovazione: un investimento concreto sul futuro di una città, reso possibile grazie alle risorse del Fondo europeo di sviluppo regionale. 🇬🇧 Today in Brussels, together with Ans Persoons, Secretary of State of the Brussels-Capital Region, I visited USquare. A former military site that has been transformed into an active inter-university hub dedicated to research and innovation: a concrete investment in the future of the city, made possible thanks to resources from the European Regional Development Fund.

🇪🇺 Questa sera ho presentato alla Commissione REGI del Parlamento europeo i risultati della revisione di medio periodo della politica di coesione, che mobilita 34,6 miliardi di euro. 🤝Ho ringraziato gli eurodeputati per il loro sostegno a questa iniziativa, che ha permesso di raggiungere risultati così rilevanti in così poco tempo. 🏘Un lavoro comune per rendere la politica di coesione più flessibile, moderna e capace di rispondere alle nuove sfide dei territori europei. 🇬🇧 This evening I presented to the European Parliament’s REGI Committee the results of the mid-term review of Cohesion Policy, which mobilises €34.6 billion. 🤝I thanked the Members of the @Europarl_EN for their support to this initiative, which made it possible to achieve such significant results in such a short time. 🏘A common effort to make Cohesion Policy more flexible, more modern and better able to respond to the new challenges facing Europe’s territories.

🇪🇺 Oggi in Collegio dei Commissari e successivamente alla stampa abbiamo presentato i risultati di un anno di lavoro sulla modernizzazione della politica di coesione. I numeri parlano da soli. In meno di dodici mesi, grazie a un impegno costante e a un dialogo costruttivo tra la Commissione europea, il Parlamento europeo, gli Stati membri e le Regioni, abbiamo lavorato insieme alla modifica di 186 programmi, per un valore complessivo di 34,6 miliardi di euro. Risorse reali, già disponibili, riallocate verso le nuove priorità dell’Europa: Competitività: 15,2 miliardi Difesa e sicurezza: 11,9 miliardi Housing: 3,3 miliardi Gestione dell’acqua: 3,1 miliardi Energia: 1,2 miliardi Questi risultati dimostrano che la politica di coesione può essere più flessibile, più semplice e più moderna, capace di adattarsi rapidamente alle nuove sfide e di sostenere concretamente lo sviluppo dei territori europei. 🇬🇧Today in the College of Commissioners, and later to the press, we presented the results of one year of work on the modernisation of Cohesion Policy. The numbers speak for themselves. In less than twelve months, thanks to continuous efforts and constructive dialogue between the European Commission, the European Parliament, Member States and Regions, we worked together to amend 186 programmes, representing a total value of €34.6 billion. These are real resources, already available, reallocated towards Europe’s new priorities: Competitiveness: €15.2 billion Defence and security: €11.9 billion Housing: €3.3 billion Water management: €3.1 billion Energy: €1.2 billion These results show that Cohesion Policy can become more flexible, simpler and more modern, capable of adapting quickly to new challenges and of concretely supporting the development of Europe’s territories.
