The Chief Executive of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) paid a courtesy visit to the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration on issues affecting Kenya's business community. The discussions reaffirmed the shared commitment of both institutions to working together while respecting their distinct mandates. As like-minded organizations, FKE and KAM agreed on the importance of leveraging their respective strengths to deliver greater value to members through complementary, rather than duplicated, services. Key areas of collaboration discussed included advocacy for an enabling business environment, trade and tax reforms, skills development, and strengthening the competitiveness of Kenyan enterprises. The two organizations also explored opportunities to work together in reviewing labour laws, supporting the implementation of international labour conventions, and advancing policies that promote productive, sustainable, and compliant workplaces.

Business leaders, HR professionals, and technology experts gathered at The Westwood on 25 July for The Future of Workplace: AI, Culture and Leadership, hosted by Foresyts HR. Delivering the keynote address, Federation of Kenya Employers Executive Director and CEO Ms. Jacqueline Mugo emphasized that AI is already transforming workplaces and urged organizations to focus not only on adopting technology but also on preparing their people through reskilling, adaptability, and people-centred leadership. A panel moderated by Foresyts Board Advisor and Director of Marketing, Maureen Onyango, featuring leaders from BDO East Africa, Foresyts, Fracht Kenya Ltd, and ProsperMentor, explored how organizations can harness AI effectively. Panellists stressed that AI adoption should be driven by clear business needs, supported by strong leadership, and viewed as a tool that enhances—not replaces—human capabilities such as creativity, judgement, and empathy. Discussions also highlighted that Africa's greatest challenge is not access to AI technology but successful adoption, with change management, workplace culture, and employee readiness remaining key barriers. Participants further underscored the need for collaboration between governments, employers, and educational institutions to equip young people with skills for an AI-enabled economy.

Speaking as the Chief Guest at the graduation ceremony, Ms. Caroline Njuki, Regional Chief Technical Advisor at the International Labour Organization (ILO), challenged the graduates to embrace their leadership journeys with confidence and conviction. She highlighted the ILO's continued commitment to advancing gender equality and creating inclusive workplaces where women can thrive. She reminded the graduates that they are becoming part of a long lineage of women who have dared to challenge gender inequality, claim their space at decision-making tables, and equip themselves with the knowledge, skills, and courage to transform workplaces and society.

FKE Executive Director and CEO Ms. Jacqueline Mugo officially opened the 18th Female Future Leadership graduation ceremony and leadership forum. Under the theme " Raise Your Hand", Ms. Mugo challenged women to rethink the barriers to leadership, emphasizing that the greatest obstacle is often not a lack of talent or ambition, but whether they are willing to step forward when opportunity arises. "When opportunity knocks, are we ready and equipped to take on leadership roles? And when there are no opportunities, are we willing to build the doors? She stressed the importance of Competence – committing to continuous learning, building expertise, and consistently adding value. Courage – recognizing that courage is not the absence of fear, but the willingness to move forward despite it. Confidence – believing in one's ability to learn, adapt, grow, and succeed. Celebrating the impact of the Female Future Leadership Programme, she noted that the initiative has now reached 6,587 women leaders, creating a powerful ripple effect across Kenya's workforce through stronger leadership, expanded opportunities, and supportive professional networks. She further announced the relaunch of the FFLP Alumni Network on 9 September, a milestone that will reconnect graduates and strengthen a vibrant community of women leaders committed to transforming workplaces and inspiring future generations.

Ms. Jacqueline Mugo, FKE Executive Director and CEO hosted the New President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), Charles Kanjama, SC, accompanied by LSK Deputy CEO Charles Owiti for discussions on a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening workplace standards across Kenya's legal profession. The meeting centred on collaboration on developing practical workplace governance solutions, including model workplace policies, capacity-building programmes, workplace assessments, and best practice guidelines for law firms, legal departments, and other employers. While FKE and LSK serve different mandates, they are united by a common vision of promoting decent work and fostering healthy workplace relationships. This partnership will help create fair, safe, and dignified workplaces for legal professionals while providing employers with practical tools to strengthen governance, enhance employee relations, and prevent workplace disputes.

Kenya's coffee and tea sectors are a key driver of employment, rural livelihoods, and economic growth. As global markets increasingly demand ethically produced and sustainably sourced coffee and tea, compliance with labour standards, human rights principles, and responsible business practices has become essential for maintaining market access and competitiveness. Recognizing these emerging expectations, the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) has been conducting trainings in the major coffee and tea producing counties to educate farmers and companies on responsible Business Conduct, stressing on prevention of child labour and ethical processes. This week, FKE held a two-day training in Meru County, bringing together more than 45 coffee farmers and representatives of coffee companies through their cooperative society. The Federation of Kenya Employers successfully signed a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between Limuru Country Club and the Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions, Hospitals and Allied Workers (KUDHEIHA), reaffirming the commitment of both parties to constructive social dialogue and sound industrial relations. The agreement was signed on behalf of Management by General Manager Stephen Mugo, flanked by Winifred Karimi, while Charles N. Mbau, 1st Deputy Secretary General, signed on behalf of the Union alongside Robert Kuria, Limuru Branch Secretary.
