アーロン・ラムズデール「ここから少し深刻な話になるよ。僕らの人生には、世間一般の人が知らないようなことがあるもので、この1年は特に、僕と家族にとっては感情のジェットコースターのようなものだった。プレミアリーグでは首位をひた走り、初めてのW杯に出場した高揚感に包まれたある日、妻と僕は第一子の妊娠を知ったんだ。
ミケル（アルテタ）がくれた数日間の特別休暇で、僕らは束の間の休暇に出かけた。純粋に人生で一番幸せな時間だった。そして、そう......これを言うのは簡単なことではないんだけど、みんなに知ってもらうことが重要だと思うんだ......。帰りの飛行機で、妻が流産したんだ。
ロンドンに向かう6時間のフライトは、今でも本当に言葉では言い表せない。ただね、もし貴方がそんな辛い経験をした場合には、決して一人ではないということを知ってほしい。
帰宅後、僕は妻と僕に何が起こったのかを、周囲に話さなかった。家族とチームメイト、そしてミケルにだけだ。彼はすべてにおいて素晴らしかった。タイトル争いの最中で、クラブに大きなプレッシャーがかかっている時でさえ、彼は僕に、落ち着くための休みが必要かどうかを聞いてくれた。ミケルは僕や、僕の家族のために、それ以上のことをしてくれたんだ。
僕にとって、これこそがマネージャーだと思った。
以心伝心なんて簡単じゃないよね。でも、彼は選手のことをとても気にかけてくれるし、僕らの悲しみに寄り添ってくれた姿勢に対し、永遠に尊敬の念を抱いている。
その3日後、僕らはダービーでスパーズと対戦した。僕は試合に出る事で、現実逃避がしたかったんだ。だから僕は、監督にその事を伝えた。これ以上ない夜だったよ。照明の下で2-0と勝利し、アウェーのファンは大興奮だった。試合を見返すと、最後にボールを蹴った瞬間、僕は笑っていた。ゴール裏に水筒を取りに行ったんだけど、まさかトッテナムのファンに背中を蹴られるなんて、考えてもみなかったけどね」

Ramsdale - "There are things that go on in our lives that the public has no idea about, and the past year has been an emotional rollercoaster for me and my family. After the high of climbing to the top of the Premier League table and going off to my first World Cup, my wife and I found out that we were expecting our first child. Mikel gave me a few extra days off after the World Cup, so we went on a brief holiday. It was genuinely the happiest time of our lives. And yeah … there’s no easy way to say this, but I feel like it’s important that people know.… On the flight home, my wife had a miscarriage. There’s really no way that I can describe the pain of that six-hour flight back to London, even now. I just want people out there to know that they’re not alone if they’re going through it themselves. When we got back, I didn’t tell many people what happened. Only my family, my teammates, and of course Mikel. He was fantastic about everything. Even in the middle of the title race, with so much pressure on the club, he asked me if I needed some time off to deal with everything. Mikel went above and beyond to make sure me and my family were OK. For me, that’s a manager. We don’t always see eye-to-eye on everything. We have some very florid conversations about football sometimes. But he cares so much about his players, and he forever has my respect for how he handled our grief."
