A Japanese manga artist lost his entire Google account forever after he uploaded private files from an old comic he drew to Google Drive. Google’s AI checked the files and flagged them as not allowed. He asked Google to review it again, but they rejected his appeal and banned the account immediately. He can no longer access years of his private drawings and lost access to many websites and services that used his Google login. The artist said this is very embarrassing and causes him a lot of trouble. He warned that it might not happen to people who always follow every rule, but others should be careful. So Google is scanning files that people upload to its cloud storage even if they are supposed to be private. I wonder how long they have been doing this.

Absolutely 🧚‍♀️🌸 We’re more focused on two parts: privacy (everything is end-to-end encrypted by default on ddocs) and sovereignty (you can retrieve all ur docs even if fileverse is down)! That’s where our focus is, heavy on the tech side but we managed to make it work smooooothly 🥝 For all the rest, any smaller option going away from g**gle is great hope u find what is best for u! And yes, smaller teams can’t do big ads or gather ur data and reach out, we have to hustle from the bottom jajaja We’ll be here if u have any questions ofc 👋

Every single time I mention looking to leave Google I get a reply from someone advertising their site, first some Ellipsus guy and now someone from Fileverse. Fileverse has "opt-in" local AI and considering it was the same with Docs I can't trust it as a long-term solution 💀

@fileverse @AricToler Good to hear! I was an alpha user back when we had to make a Safe on Gnosis and use the safe app. Wasn't a good experience and tbh had some data loss. Awesome that ya'll are still at it! Will check out fileverse again 🫶
