The Duke. Because it's birthday, because I always loved him, and because he made some of the best movies ever.

@FlaggHazel2 Some promo photo. Same movie? Doesn't exactly look like Mr. Nice Guy.

Let me recommend Tomorrow Is Another Day, one of Cochran's best films and performances. For once, he doesn't play the heavy.

@DADiClementi Never "met" a costume designer who had bad words for anyone. (A-hem).

A thread dedicated to the costume designs of Albert Wolsky. A kind, humble man who, in 20+ years of friendship, I never heard spoke ill anyone with whom he worked. (A-hem.) AND, BTW, Albert was colorblind! Academy Award Winner: BUGSY

Now rewatching Gentlemen Prefer Blondes on the big screen. This is both MM and Jane Russell's best film. Well, it's the best film ever. (Except for Twentieth Century and At Long Last Love)

#VidorFilms2026 101. The Crowd. My masterpiece, of course, a stone-cold classic and a claimant for best movie of the silent film era. So much went into this film, starting with Jim Murray and Eleanor giving strikingly modern performances. What happened with Murray after 1/

365 celluloid people I love. Day 145. George Montgomery. Because he was a hunk and he held his own opposite Rogers in Roxie Hart and Grable in Coney Island.

@FlaggHazel2 Poor Virginia Mayo (in Best Years), can you imagine having to choose between Cochran and Dana Andrews?

It's Steve Cochran's birthday. One of my all-time favorites, and the best looking bad boy ever.

King Vidor's Man Without a Star is pretty good. I hadn't seen it in a long time.

Rewatching The High and the Mighty. Great fun (but I am partial to the Duke). Jan Sterling has some juicy moments.

Now showing on the big screen. A forty-week series on love affairs. (George loves Cagney who loves Priscilla who loves the boring guy).

Ship of Fools is such a crappy mess. Not even these two can save it. But they have the only bit worth attention. When they meet and he tells her "he had the runs". She's (obviously) appalled and answers "How interesting, you should tell me more". That pretty much sums it up.
