LAGOS WILL REMAIN PEACEFUL,SAYS SANWO-OLU AFTER SECURITY COUNCIL MEETING Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu this morning convened a meeting of the Security Council. The Council, which comprises heads of Security agencies in the state, met at the State House, Marina. At the routine meeting, which was chaired by Mr Sanwo-Olu, were the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 9 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. A.O. Owolabi, Group Capt. M.A. Imam, Commander 651 BSG, Nigerian Air Force, Commander NNS Beecroft Naval Base, Apapa, Commodore PP Nimmyel, Commissioner of Police Olohundare Moshood, representative of the Department State Services Director, A.B. Alade, Secretary to the State Government Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Chief of Staff to the Governor Tayo Ayinde, Chief Security Officer to the Governor CSP Fagbemi Adekunle, and Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) Executive Secretary Ayo Ogunsan. After being briefed by the security chiefs, the Governor expressed his satisfaction with their reports and urged them to ensure that Lagos remains peaceful for residents and all visitors. Besides, he assured all Lagosians and visitors that the Yuletide will truly be a season of goodwill. The State Government, in its bid to continue to promote skills development and empower youths through small and medium-scale enterprises, approved the construction of an Industrial leather hub at Matoriin Mushin LGA. This project is now completed.

The Imota Light Industrial Park Project is located at Imota LCDA, close to the Ikorodu Local Government Area. The Project consist of 20 Nos Factory Buildings of various types (One Unit, Two Units and Four Units), a Restaurant, an Administrative Building, a Clinic and a gatehouse to service the Main Factory Buildings.

The Office of Works is supervising the remodelling, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of Teslim Balogun Stadium and 8 (Eight) Sports Facilities/Stadia across the State. These include Teslim Balogun Stadium; Ifako-Ijaye Mini Stadium; Araromi Mini Stadium, Gbagada and IgbogboStadium, in Ikorodu. 4 out of the 9 are currently ongoing. Renovation of Gbagada Youth Centre, OworoshokiYouth Centre, Onikan Youth Centre and Correctional Centre For Junior Boys, Birrel, Yaba, Construction of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Site at Odo-Ayandelu, Agbowa. Also, the Office of Works is presently supervising the renovation of the Indoor Sports Hall, MobolajiJohnson Sports Hall at The Rowe Park Sports Centre, Yaba, Lagos.

Redevelopment of J. Randle Centre For Yoruba Culture and History, Onikan, Lagos

The Office of Works completed the Students' Union Arcade Ojo  Campus, the Construction of the Central Library all in LASU, the Renovation of the Nigerian Law School Hostel, Lagos Campus and the Remodelling of the University of Lagos’ Main Gate.

The completion of Fire Stations and the LASEMA Response Unit has continued to strengthen and impact positively on the lives of the citizenry and deepen the efforts to promote a "Safety Culture” in the State. The Completion of the response unit at Epe and the Construction of Kosofe and Ijede Fire  Stations are testimonials to the commitment of this administration to safety and emergency management.

The construction of a 280-bed General Hospital in Ojo has generated about 600 jobs. The 150-bed New Massey Children's Hospital, which is progressing as scheduled and is being proposed for completion before the expiration of this administration, has so far generated about 750 jobs. The construction of a 1,500-bed Psychiatric Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre in Ketu Ejinrin is also progressing steadily. The Office has supervised the completion of 4 Mother and Child Centres (MCCs) at Eti-Osa, Igando, Badagry and Epe. The construction of a four-storey Faculty of Basic Medical and Clinical Sciences Office Block at the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) was completed.

In line with the policy of the State Government to provide adequate and timely delivery of Justice to the citizenry and to deepen the operational efficiency of security apparatus and agencies that enforce law and order, the State has been providing Infrastructural support for the Nigeria Police Force by constructing the Police Model Area Command, Renovation works at the Lagos State Code of Conduct Bureau and Magistrates' Courts as well as the Construction of Citizens' Mediation Centres. To ensure an efficient and cost-effective mode of adjudicating disputes that directly and significantly affect the economic and commercial activities of Lagos State, Mr Governor commissioned the Commercial  Court at Tapa, Lagos Island, on 16th April 2025.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the stage performance of “I Wish I wish” Battle of the Winds, on Saturday, 30th May 2026. The stage performance , organized by the Management of the National Theatre, led by the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer,Tola Akerele, took place at the Main Bowl, Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, formerly National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos State.
