LAGOS WILL REMAIN PEACEFUL,SAYS SANWO-OLU AFTER SECURITY COUNCIL MEETING Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu this morning convened a meeting of the Security Council. The Council, which comprises heads of Security agencies in the state, met at the State House, Marina. At the routine meeting, which was chaired by Mr Sanwo-Olu, were the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 9 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. A.O. Owolabi, Group Capt. M.A. Imam, Commander 651 BSG, Nigerian Air Force, Commander NNS Beecroft Naval Base, Apapa, Commodore PP Nimmyel, Commissioner of Police Olohundare Moshood, representative of the Department State Services Director, A.B. Alade, Secretary to the State Government Barr. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Chief of Staff to the Governor Tayo Ayinde, Chief Security Officer to the Governor CSP Fagbemi Adekunle, and Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) Executive Secretary Ayo Ogunsan. After being briefed by the security chiefs, the Governor expressed his satisfaction with their reports and urged them to ensure that Lagos remains peaceful for residents and all visitors. Besides, he assured all Lagosians and visitors that the Yuletide will truly be a season of goodwill. Lagos State emerged as the top-performing State in Nigeria in the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council Ease of Doing Business 2026 rankings, released in March 2026. The ranking, based on the 2025 Subnational Ease of Doing Business Report covering all 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, reinforces the position of Lagos as the country's leading and preferred destination for investment.

As the Special Purpose Vehicle established to promote and attract investments into the Lekki Free Zone, Lekki Worldwide Investments Limited, LWIL, has improved investor engagement, structured project development, expanded global visibility, and introduced high-impact strategic initiatives across Term 2.

Through the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, LASCOPA, the Ministry has remained resolute in protecting consumer rights and ensuring fair trade practices across the State. The Agency has enhanced its complaint resolution mechanisms to deliver timely and efficient service.

“We were active in activating and enabling additional market access platforms by supporting Business Membership Organisations and the Organised Private Sector across their own Fairs and Exhibitions. The Lagos State MSME Exclusive Trade Fair and EKO Round City Trade Fair 1.0 was held from Monday 8 December to Sunday 14 December 2025 at the National Stadium, Surulere. The State Government partnered with EKO Roundcity Trade Fair and Surulere Fiesta to activate all Local Government Areas in the Lagos Central Senatorial District to mobilise MSMEs.

The Ministry has embarked on the renovation and upgrading of the State-owned industrial estates at Matori I, Matori II, and Sabo Industrial Estate, Ikorodu, improving infrastructure and the operational environment, supporting growth, and boosting productivity. A verification exercise across the estates ensured compliance and identified operational challenges, strengthening estate administration and reinforcing data integrity.

In May 2025, Mr. Governor launched the LASG-BOI Access to Finance for MSMEs through Cooperatives programme, LASMECO, as our flagship instrument for expanding access to finance for cooperative-based Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

The Lagos State Industrial Policy 2025-2030 was unveiled to transform the State industrial sector and position Lagos as the manufacturing hub of Africa.

In January 2026, the HC engaged the Chairman of AIM Global Foundation, Mr. Dawood Al Shezawi, on Lagos State participation in the AIM Global Congress, a major global investment platform with over 2,000 delegates, focused on Reshaping Global Prosperity through sustainable investment, digital transformation, and economic diversification. The Congress is scheduled for September 2026 in Dubai.

In July 2025, the Ministry participated in the London-Lagos Business Summit at the Lagos Continental Hotel, where matchmaking conversations on investment promotion and trade facilitation were led by the Deputy Mayor of London delegation.

In April 2026, Mr. Governor led the State delegation to the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council Trade & Investment Summit at Mansion House, London.
