I just had the exciting opportunity to speak at the @RACSurgeons conference! My colleagues from @MelanomaAus, Alex van Akkooi and David Coker, hosted the session where I shared groundbreaking work on #neoadjuvant #immunotherapy – giving cancer drugs before surgery, which is helping us #cure more #cancer patients. I highlighted how important teamwork is across different medical specialties, and shared my passion for developing new drugs and finding which #melanoma patients need multiple drugs to be cured. Congratulations to Academy Fellow Dr John Kirkegaard who has been awarded a Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Agriculture and Life Science at Kansas State University (@KState). The @FulbrightAUS program—established in 1946—promotes cross-cultural understanding and cooperation in various fields of study. John was elected as a Fellow of the Academy in 2016 in recognition of his significant contributions to agricultural science. He is a chief research scientist at @CSIRO's Agriculture and Food department and has led teams developing innovative agronomic approaches to enhance water efficiency in farming. As the Fulbright Distinguished Chair at Kansas State University, John will share research strategies to improve wheat production, a vital crop for global food security and rural prosperity.
