November 8 is #NationalIndigenousVeteransDay, a day for remembrance and commemoration of the contributions of Indigenous veterans in the First and Second World Wars, as well as the Korean War. First Nations, Inuit and Métis people were not eligible for conscription because they were not citizens of Canada, but many volunteered despite the challenges they faced, including travelling long distances, learning a new language and coping with racism against them. Indigenous people have continuously volunteered to serve and have done so bravely and with distinction.

📢 Community Spotlight: West Windsor School Lunch Pilot Program with United Way Windsor-Essex and Windsor-Detroit Port Authority. The West Windsor School Lunch Pilot is bringing warm, nutritious meals to hundreds of students every week! Supported by the Gordie Howe International Bridge Community Benefits Plan, this program delivers free lunches to over 400 students at General Brock Public School on Wednesdays and nearly 500 students at St. James Catholic Elementary School on Thursdays. Setaish, a student from General Brock, shared a heartfelt message about the program’s impact: "The variety is incredible, from fresh chicken wraps to warm mac and cheese. It’s not just about the food; it’s about coming together as a community and enjoying a meal with friends. This program is a blessing and a reminder of how essential it is to support one another and foster a caring community."
