@adamgordon1978 @GeriSoc @GERED_DOC . Hi folks, hope all well. A poll, please answer and comment (and then share widely…) What condition or issue is associated with the largest number of avoidable deaths in the NHS?

How about some standards for an ED waiting room @RCEMpresident ? Obs rounds Water fountain + paper cups. Tea + coffee rounds. Visible security. Real time information (?also app based) Clear signage. Access to food (not vending) Air filtration Text call system Quiet / refuge area
Tim Coats@TJCoats

Maybe all ED staff ought to spend a bit of time in 'civilian' clothes sitting in the ED waiting room. It is miserable being an ED patient at the moment - but there are some low cost things that could be provided that would make it more bearable - free tea? emj.bmj.com/content/early/…

Good on ya. In my experience, it’s not the word to which people object, it’s the state. Better than renaming, understand frailty and tackle it. Often in hospitals, no matter the word, many are comfortable in denigrating the people who live with it. That’s what needs to change.

@DrAROrkaby @DaeKimMD @Krockdoc @NEJM I am going to try to read this with an open mind.. the word "frailty " just makes me uncomfortable.

The @FrailtyEthncity study exhibition is officially open to the public. I'll be here until 2.30pm. It's nice and cool in here at the Haymarket shopping centre so if you are in Leicester and want a break from the sunshine come and have a looksee.

@marktaylor18 @GeriSoc @Krockdoc Correlation is not great between any frailty measures - different tools for different functions. For me CFS immediate clinical use, HFRS population segmentation similar to eFI but using secondary care data

@GeriSoc @Krockdoc @GERED_DOC I am seeing the Hospital Frailty Risk Score (HFRS) on posters, yet my understanding is that the correlation between CFS/FI and HFRS is poor and probably relate to different subpopulations. What is the validity of using the HFRS in that case?
