Lower SPR makes fold equity more valuable and postflop realization less important. At around 40bb, BB starts developing a jamming range because the EV tradeoff between postflop realization and preflop fold equity shifts. At higher stack depths, calling and raising smaller is typical since hands can realize equity more effectively postflop, while jamming risks too many chips to be viable. At around 40bb, however, equity realization drops while denying equity becomes more valuable. The pot is already large enough relative to stacks that a jam starts to make sense. The main candidates are vulnerable hands that still perform reasonably well when called, like low pocket pairs, Ace-X offsuit and suited connectors, which additionally fold out better pocket pairs and Ax combos.
