@mweinbach Do you know if they’ll add support for remote codex sessions?
English

@gnukeith I understand that but my question is more targeted towards corporate deployments: How would the licensing work? Do we just pay for one download or would we have to get a license per user? Because telling management to pay $50 for a browser per user is going to be a big NO.

What we remove/disable/proxy from Chromium:
github.com/brave/brave-br…
Firefox supports things like CNAME uncloaking for extensions, while Chromium-based browsers generally do not
Brave is an exception because we implement CNAME uncloaking in the browser itself through Brave Shields, not through the normal Chromium extension model
brave.com/privacy-update…
People saying it's just the same as using uBO on ANY Chromium based browser are wrong
uBO blocks some privacy and security threats, but it is not a full anti-fingerprinting tool
The developers have said this themselves and have rejected requests to turn it into one
github.com/gorhill/uBlock…
Blocking malicious or unwanted content from loading in your browser is an important part of Web privacy but not the only one
Brave does a bunch of work around preventing fingerprinting, see:
github.com/brave/brave-br…
There is other stuff we do to protect peoples security and privacy, some things that no other browser do
Brave hate comes from people who have absolutely no idea what they are talking about aka privacy/security larpers
It's performative

when will people realize this browser is shit
English

@gnukeith But would it be paid for or is that just for those wanting to support it now?
English

@geekcubano This is Brave Origin, I hope to see it in corporate deployment because it's very easy to manage
English

@gnukeith I wish there was a way to strip all the cripto stuff from it, or control it via GPO, that would make it more palatable for corporate deployments.

JIT makes browsers faster by turning web code into machine code on the fly but that extra complexity creates more chances for serious bugs and exploits
Disabling it removes a big attack surface so the browser is usually safer though slower
FYI
V8 sandboxing does not stop JIT bugs from existing in the first place Its job is to contain the damage after a V8 bug has been exploited by trying to keep memory corruption trapped inside the V8 heap instead of letting it reach the rest of the renderer process

@NathanMcNulty Update controls are great but windows still does whatever it wants sometimes 😂.
I’ve never had that issue with Jamf and Apple devices.
English

@geekcubano Sounds like someone configured your updates poorly, because update controls are actually pretty great
The real issue with Windows updates is you never know what it's going to break...
But Apple is still worse - 4x size, at least 4x as long, and .0/.1 updates are always buggy
English

Now do OS updates...
I like macOS, but Apple does updates worse than Windows Vista
Apple: We need 20+GB to install every update, and it will take at least 30 minutes

I did a basic speed test comparing my MacBook Pro and Asus Zenbook S16. Not sophisticated, but representative of how snappy they feel compared with each other. #MacBook #AsusZenbook #Windows #macOS #Apple
