Israel has murdered more UN staff in the last two years than in the entire history of the United Nations. It is beyond disguising he was allowed to address the General Assembly. The only forum he should be addressing is the International Criminal Court.

Israel has such complete surveillance and control of Gaza's communications networks that it can commandeer them to force their phones to broadcast Netanyahu's speech, but Israel had no clue that Hamas was planning an operation as large as Oct 7 and it then took hours to respond?
Prime Minister of Israel@IsraeliPM

In an unprecedented action, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a live broadcast from the UN building in New York, has announced that the IDF took control of the telephones of Gaza residents and Hamas members, and that his speech is now being broadcast live via the telephones.

Israel is panicking about the Sumud Flotilla. Americans don't realize how much of a crisis this is because their media isn't telling them about it, but Israel is worried that if the flotilla succeeds a dam will burst. All pressure should be on governments to aid the flotilla
dylan saba@shaabiranks

The Global Sumud Flotilla is demonstrating the efficacy of tactical nonviolence in forcing a political crisis over the Gaza genocide. They are putting Israel on the back foot and forcing states to act. These brave comrades deserve our full attention, solidarity, and support

This is a huge news for France, and for Libya. The only other French leader ever sent to prison in the entire history of the French republic was Pétain (the leader of Vichy France), just to give an idea of how extreme the level of treachery must be for France to imprison a former head of state. And in this case it was indeed particularly treacherous: Sarkozy was condemned for criminal conspiracy, soliciting millions of euros from Libya's Gaddafi to fund his 2007 presidential campaign. And as we all know he then cynically turned around later when he was president to lead the very NATO bombing campaign that toppled his former benefactor (to be clear, he was not condemned for this later part, only the criminal conspiracy). Libya which, by the way, used to be Africa's richest country and is now but a mere shadow of its former self... The guy quite literally destroyed an entire country, and it looks like he did it (at least to some extent) to cover the tracks of his corruption. If that's not treacherous, I don't know what is. Plus, in my own opinion, he was the worst president of France in modern times. The guy who killed the little independence we used to have on the international stage by putting us back in NATO (after De Gaulle had rightly left decades prior); there's a reason why in the US they used to call him "Sarko the American" (cbsnews.com/news/sarko-the…). Really treacherous all around.

If I looked out my window and saw people massacring children, I'd probably think thoughts like "That's horrible!" and "How can I stop this?" The furthest thing from my mind would be thoughts like "What religion are they?" or "Their religion is very relevant to any discussions we might have about this massacre" or "We should definitely be very careful about discussing this massacre because we don't want to offend people who have the same religion as the people doing the massacre." It would never occur to me to consider such things, much less that such considerations should be central to all discourse about the massacre for years on end.

Read this. It's remarkable. The UN is begging - literally begging - Israel to allow it to deliver to Gaza 160,000 pallets of food aid it has ready to go. Israel will not allow that. There is only one inescapable conclusion: Israel is deliberately starving Gaza to death.
Tom Fletcher@UNReliefChief

Enough. We demand rapid, safe, and unimpeded access to starving civilians in Gaza. We have a plan. We have thousands of trucks of food at the border. Let us in. Let us work. bit.ly/3S7M0oo

🇺🇸🇳🇱 USA sanctions on the ICC: - British barrister Karim Khan chief prosecutor lost access to email, after Microsoft turned it offf. - His bank accounts have been frozen too. - Some non-governmental organisations have stopped working with the ICC and the leaders of one will not even reply to emails from court officials. Since Trump’s sanctions, the court’s staff, including other top judges, have suffered severe restrictions on their work and personal lives.

This is the most insane part of the new US export controls. If you're a Chinese company, in China, with zero relations to the US and you buy Huawei Ascend chips, then you're held criminally liable for doing so under US extraterritorial law. With all the consequences that entails: - You get added to the Entity List, which effectively means you get completely cut-off from international financial systems as global banks refuse to process your transactions out of fear of violating US sanctions. You also get completely cut-off from future access to any US-linked technology, software, or services. - Potential sanctions on the company executives, jail time if they travel to the wrong country, etc. What this means is that China's only strategic option here is to accelerate tech and financial decoupling from the U.S. so that these sanctions have no bite anymore. Will this ultimately work out in the US's favor? It's far from certain: in seeking to cut off the world's - including China's - access to Huawei products, they might ultimately cut themselves off from the world as China responds by building alternative ecosystems that bypasses them.
John Pang 彭润年@jynpang

Anyone, anywhere using Huawei Ascend chips could be prosecuted for violating US export restrictions. A Chinese company using a 100% Chinese designed and manufactured chip, in China, would be violating US export restrictions. So you better stick to US AI chips. But anyone, anywhere using US AI chips (Nvidia) to deploy a Chinese LLM faces "consequences." Practically speaking, you're only allowed to use Nvidia, and you're only allowed to run American AI models on it. Your future under "US AI leadership" is ChatGPT on Nvidia. Monopoly by decree.

Incredibly powerful investigation in Dutch newspaper NRC: Seven of the world’s leading genocide scholars — including renowned Holocaust experts — describe Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocidal. And according to them, nearly all of their peers agree.
