My wife when I told her we should go to Chuck-A-Rama. She is actively training me that when it comes to food, quality is better than quantity. I have not been to a buffet in years.

@kimmie_c_ When I was a kid our folks would take us out to eat about once a week, typically to a place like Duff's (buffet style place), Quincy's (steak house like Golden Corral), or grab pizza for a quick dinner at home. But it wasn't expected, and it was always considered a treat.

Gen X here... I remember going to McDonald's for birthday parties & on rare occasions w/ my family for a treat. Eating out was NEVER an everyday occurrence... not even weekly. Months would go buy w/ nothing but grocery store bought food. Where are these people getting their info?

@Warcraftmelts @ashleyschendel We are both retired. Go to town, 30 minute drive, once a week. Eating out is usually Golden Corral buffet or Waffle House. Don’t have much to spend so we watch it close

Seniors should not be priced out of a house they already paid for because the area around them got more expensive. They didn’t suddenly get richer because Zillow says the house is worth more. Most of them are living on fixed income, paying higher insurance, higher utilities, higher groceries, and then the tax bill shows up like they somehow got a raise. People can argue all day about how to fund schools and services, and that part does matter. But making older homeowners keep rebuying the same house every year through property taxes is exactly why so many people feel like ownership is never really ownership.
