I started and doing this because I was annoyed and pissed off that so many artists who I feel deserve attention simply fall under the radar. I had NO CLUE it would turn into something like this. None. What I thought was going to be a 2 person initiative has blown into something community driven like I haven't seen before around here. I'm happy to have lit the match, but you all and the folks above turned this into a conflagration. I am humbled. I am proud of this place. And I feel lucky to be a tiny part of it. We're just getting started. Lots more to come! ❤️✊

@batsoupyum Love the initiative, we share the same mission. We can assist with the write up.

1) We'll buy the work 2) We'll invite the artist to do a small writeup about themselves and the work 3) Lanett and I will discuss why we bought it The mission is to elevate artists. That's it. I don't have investors or some sort of agenda to flip this and get rich. It's all my own money and I'm doing it because I'm just tired of seeing so many good artists struggle here. So rather than whine about it I've decided to do something.

I'm going to spend $100k this year buying cryptoart from artists trying to get established. It'll come out to around 1E per week. It's not nearly enough but hopefully it helps. @musicalnetta, who is way better at this than I am, will be helping me. Here's how it works:

Picked up a few pieces by @canekzapata recently, but honestly, I’m really happy I got this one. “Data - display - Algorithm” from 2022. It’s part of this really small series of just 3 pieces called “computers drawing other computers.” I’ve always been drawn to works that feel like they capture where an artist’s journey began. Like the seeds of everything they do. Canek’s work is all about generative art, computational poetry, and the visual language of the Internet. And this piece just feels like the perfect example of what his work is really about at its core.

Except from my interview with Christie’s (February 2023) “How do you find new artists? CDM: It's a challenge. I've found a surprising number of artists through them commenting on my Tweets. And I encourage people to do so. I've been meaning to do a post on my Hall of Fame of Missed Direct Messages. I have many missed DMs from artists that have since had huge breakouts. I also like to ask artists who they’re into. I found Sam Spratt through FEWOCiOUS, who tweeted about him. And then I saw FEWO placing bids on Sam's I. Birth of Luci. And I thought, Wow, this is captivating. It was the last half hour of the auction. There were three people going for it. I quickly looked up Sam and saw the work he had done with amazing musicians. He had a lot of depth to his style, and seeing FEWO bidding was also a big sign for me because talent recognises talent. I bid on it and won. That was the first piece of his I acquired. It led me to a great friendship with Sam and to later acquire his VII. Wormfood at Christie’s.”
