Both sides explored introducing dual degree programmes and strengthening long-term institutional linkages.

Discussions focused on expanding exchanges, joint research, and university partnerships while enhancing academic mobility. The Chairman also welcomed Ms. Sabine Vermillard, Attachée for scientific & higher education cooperation in Pakistan.

Key decisions: MS-level scholarships, increased seats for Bangladesh, education expos, and executive leadership training.

HEC held the first Steering Committee meeting of the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarship Programme, chaired by @DrNiazAhmadSI. Progress on the Bangladesh phase (launched Nov 2025) was reviewed, while expansion to Central Asia and friendly countries was discussed.

DG NCP Dr. Qaisar Ahsan highlighted ongoing work in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The importance of collaborative research, indigenous technology, and capacity building was also underscored.

Chairman HEC Dr @DrNiazAhmadSI led the opening of International School on Physics and Allied Disciplines at National Center for Physics (NCP), Islamabad, as the Chief Guest. He lauded NCP’s impactful R&D contributions to national priorities and honoured international speakers.

The delegation included Dr. Robert A. Hall, Professor of Mining Engineering and Management at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, and U.S. Embassy officials, including Ms. Heather Murphy, Mr. Sharif Sabir, and Ms. Hina Rizwan.

Executive Director HEC @DrZia_ulhaq met with a delegation from the U.S. Embassy to discuss enhancing curriculum standards in Mining Engineering and Mineral Exploration to align with international best practices, as well as human resource development and technology transfer.
