If you're vibecoding a B2C app, I’m probably more invested in your success than 99.99% of people out there (@RevenueCat only makes money when you make money) But time for a little reality check

The founder of Cal AI ($2M/mo) recommends web funnels Not sure if they’ve implemented it yet, but the difference would be huge: $2M/month - Apple’s 30% cut = $1.4M❌ Using web funnel = $1.9M✅ (With tools like funnelfox it can be integrated very easily btw)
Jake Castillo@jakecastilloooo

Web funnels are a cheat code when scaling paid ads. But most apps don't use them The real blocker has always been speed — they take weeks to build Tools like FunnelFox allow you to create them in a day That tradeoff looks very different now

Based on the numbers, it seems more likely then not that the ROAS on a web funnel is lower than that on direct-to-app 40ish % being able to run web funnels profitably is the last figure I got from an agency who do nothing else then work on web-to-app funnels Like most things: Test. You might be part of the 40%

In the web-to-app conversation, people tend to forget this one - pretty important - detail: Apple can still charge a fee for that 'free' web revenue They just haven't decided on how big the fee is yet A quick recap on what's happening 👇🧵

@TimSweeneyEpic Regardless, *some* fee will be charged where folks are now counting their roosters based on $0 It's not particularly constructive to pretend like that's not true (also, big fan of Fortnite 😂

@TimSweeneyEpic Afaik, the ruling also says Apple gets "some compensation for its intellectual property directly used in permitting linked-out purchases" It'll be up to the courts to decide exactly what that means. Seems unlikely that it'll end up being '6 minutes of app review'

@HHaandr It’s nothing like 20%. It’s very hard to see how it could even be calculated as a percentage of revenue, as the costs are specific and emanate from app review. Epic v Apple documented the costs of app review and that human reviewers spent 6-12 minutes per app on average.

If you're building your business model around "web payments are free now" - you're building on sand If the math works out, take advantage of the 0% window while it lasts But plan for a world where Apple takes a cut of web purchases too

Impossible to predict where the number will end up (somewhere between 0 and 27%), but now that Google has committed to 10% (subscriptions and small businesses) and 20% (everything else), it seems likely that Apple will end up close to there

I want to target US market with a new TikTok account But I'm based in London To create a new Apple ID with US location I need a US phone number What should I do? Do people just go on Amazon and buy one of these US sims? Are they legit and will give me what I want? Or should I get an e-sim, would that even be same a physical sim? Need advice 🙏

@camilopenalver They’ve always done that 😅 It’s 10% + the billing fee (5%), so you end up paying the same If you use your own billing it’s 10% + whatever Stripe / Paddle / whoever charges you

Google just announced that it will reduce Play Store subscription fees to 10% for developers making under $1 million in annual revenue, while also allowing external payment methods. Wow, this is a huge shift for mobile apps and subscriptions.

@Alexintosh Apple doesn’t allow you to programmatically cancel a subscription (always requires some user action). You can inform users, though

It's no secret I don't like subscriptions (I guess nobody does) and I personally avoid all apps with that business model and never implemented in own apps. Reading this post made me realise that what I really hate is the hidden costs of subscriptions, not paying monthly per se. Most apps business model is you forgetting about the payment. They build a fortune on parasitic behaviour, sucking money from you while providing zero value. I want to experiment with auto-unsubscribe on my own apps. Simple concept, if you have not open the apps for X days your subscriptions gets cancelled instead of renewed.
Will@athcanft

this guy pays $7.99 a week and hasn’t opened the app in 5 months this is the unspoken truth of the subscription economy retention is a suckers game for b2c apps, distribution is the moat
