Their names are a stark reminder that, for too long, violence against women and girls has been treated as a fact of life - but we will not accept this. Our Violence Against Women and Girls strategy, launched in December, is only the beginning. We are committed to acting faster and doing whatever it takes to protect more women and girls from harm.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will conduct a flypast later marking the 85th Anniversary of one of the most intense military campaigns of World War II. In 1940, over the course of 16 weeks, the RAF defended the UK against bombardment from the Luftwaffe - and prevented a German invasion. This year is the first where there will be no Battle of Britain veterans in attendance, as they have all now died.
