My first day commuting into work from Melbourne’s west via PT in two weeks (buses had been replacing trains) and of course there are major @metrotrains delays.

Just finished reporting on my first Victorian state election, covering the electorates of #Bulleen and #Richmond. What a thrill, now to add it to my list of things done in the first year on the job!

Contractors have continued work on the 2.5km levee around parts of Echuca overnight. They are now putting the finishing touches on the massive project, with residents hoping it will be enough to protect their homes from the rising Murray River #echuca #vicfloods #victoriafloods

@JennaPrice It is 95m above sea level. Some areas, like Echuca, are measured in Australian Height Datum.

Responding to dozens of flood rescue calls yesterday, authorities have pleaded with people not to “walk, drive or play in floodwaters”. “This is incredibly dangerous and may be the last decision you ever make.” Remember it only takes 15cm of flowing water to float a small car.

Late yesterday the SES told me the situation was now being described as a “major flood emergency”, with campaign floods expected to continue for the next four to six weeks. Stay safe everyone. #vicfloods #victoriafloods
