#Cannes jury president Park Chan-wook says "I don’t think politics and art should be divided." " I think it’s a strange concept to think that they’re in conflict with each other. Just because a work of art has a political statement, it should not be considered an enemy of art. At the same time, just because a film is not making a political statement, that film should not be ignored. Even if we are to make a brilliant political statement, if it’s not expressed artfully enough, it would just be propaganda. So what I want to say is that art and politics are not concepts that are in conflict with each other, as long as they are artistically expressed, they are valuable."

If you watch K-pop, you're consuming K-content. Stuff designed for international audiences If you speak Korean and watch/listen to stuff here, you're consuming Korean content Both are valid. But you shouldn't use K-content to understand Korean culture koreatimes.co.kr/opinion/202605…

Did you know Korea sells “one-a-day” banana packs? Instead of every banana ripening at once, each one is at a different stage. One is ready today. The next one is ready tomorrow. The last one is still spiritually in college, “experimenting.” Simple. Genius. Solves the entire banana problem. What do you think? Would you prefer your bananas this way?

@John_Attridge I teach a uni course on film in South Korea. This semester we've watched five together so far: Ex Machina, Gattaca, Arrival, Grand Budapest Hotel, and Leon. The two 90s movies were the clear favourites. Interestingly, they describe them as being nostalgic...

Film literacy among young people is at an all time low. My gen z students are shockingly unfamiliar with many key landmarks of modern cinema that were released in the 1990s

(Elegant enjoyment of nature and arts)"

Korea is everything: dark/light, traditional/modern, natural/built. Pretty cool to capture all that taoist energy in one photo.

@anonhistory @kkr4241 Thank you 🙌 I just finished a podcast on Korean dragons and Taoism where my guest explained how the gold Silla crowns had dangling jewels and metal to reflect the sunlight and make the royals wearing them appear magic and otherworldly 👑☯️
