What a win for Jacob Bridgeman. He is also a great example of why the Tour must market young players better as some of their stars start to age. Bridgeman has one of the best players of his age group/class since he a kid. 9th ranked junior. Went to a great golf college program. Had one of the best freshman years in Clemson history. Continued to improve from there, won a bunch, All-American, finished 2nd in PGA Tour U. Turned pro and earned his Pga tour card as a rookie on KFT. Played solid his first year on Tour, kept his card (wouldn't have if it was 100 cards) improved again and had a great year last year, now a Pga tour win in a Signature event. But most casual fans have almost no idea who he is. The Tour must find a way to build up young guys. Not start to market them AFTER they win. Today should not be a “letdown” that a big name didn't win, rather it should be excitement that a possible young future star has taken another step in his career. They have the Pga tour U but do almost nothing to promote the players on it. I'd guess almost no one could name more than one or two names of the top players of this year's list. I know it's hard to do, as they don't have a team to promote players like in NBA or NFL, but marketing future stars has to be a focus going forward imo.
