No one wants to eat rice and beans. Let us look at a family of 4: But you can get 10lb bag of rice is $6.99. An 10lb bag of pinto beans is $9.99. 1lb of chicken thighs last I checked was $2.50. For 7 days, that's $17.50. You can buy 36 eggs at Walmart for $4.92. 5lb bag of apples is $6.49. 2% gallon of milk is $2.59. Enough for 7 days is $5.18. Off brand sandwich bread is $1.99. Enough for 7 days is 1.99 x 4 is $7.96. 1lb of deli ham or turkey is $5.49, Enough for 7 days is $10.98. 16 slices of cheese is $3.50. Enough for 7 days is $7.00. 7 bananas is around $1.50, Enough for 7 days is $6.00. 1lb of butter is $3.49. 1lb of mayo is $2.79 (not for me, but I know people love it). A 52oz bag of frozen broccoli is $6.00. Enough for 7 days is $12.00. If you estimate 6% sales tax, that's about $100.00 per week for 4 people and 3 full meals. Breakfast: 3/4-1 cup of rice, 3/4-1 cup of beans. 1-2 eggs. 1 banana. 1 cup of milk. Lunch: 3/4-1 cup of rice, 3/4 cup of beans. Ham or turkey sandwich with 1-2 slices of cheese. 1 apple. Dinner: 3/4-1 cup of rice, 3/4-1 cup of beans. 1 chicken thigh. 1/2 of broccoli.

Taiwan’s 2025 0.695 fertility rate is roughly 17% lower than the government's most pessimistic "worst-case"scenario of 0.84 released only two years ago. & what’s worse is births are down a further 18% in first quarter of 2026 so TFR could go below 0.60!taipeitimes.com/News/front/arc…

Part of the reason grieving a child is so isolating is because we often don’t have social permission to talk about it. I’m in social settings with parents who want to connect via complaining about parenting difficulties, and I simply can’t relate, but I’m not allowed to say anything. If I state my actual position (“these struggles do not bother me at all”), I am “throwing my loss in their face” or “invalidating others’ struggles just because they’re less than mine.” I know that’s how it comes across. What am I supposed to do? I can’t join in on the mommy struggle sesh. So instead I just shut up, because I am not trying to be a dick. And it feels an awful lot like I have to just suck it up, suffering silently, to avoid coming across as rude and making other people uncomfortable. This makes me quiet, awkward, and recluse. The end result is extreme loneliness, even in a room full of moms.

Few of us in the US remember where all 50 states are and I'm willing to bet nobody actually has a good grasp of what's going on in even 10 of the states economically and politically. The electoral college ensures that each state has equal stature for this reason.
