Delo claims he is based in Hong Kong and does not appear on the electoral roll. The Sanctuary is not a legal entity registered in the UK, nor is The Ben Delo Foundation. But one beneficiary described Delo’s work at the Sanctuary as a “quiet revolution” in British politics.

The Spectator, a right wing news magazine owned by Paul Marshall, falsely accused a HOPE not hate journalist of committing a serious criminal offence. They were forced to retract the story and apologise. But instead of stopping there, The Spectator couldn’t resist one more swing.

And it hasn’t stopped. The Spectator’s latest shot across our bows came in February this year, when their associate editor, Lord Toby Young, complained in their magazine about our report on his appearance in the latest release of the Epstein files.

The Bristol Patriots have since attempted to distance themselves from “other groups who were invited to the march by certain individuals within our community”. The group has also suspended its Facebook page, writing: “Stay tuned. Change is coming.” We'll be watching.

One of the few locals present was Tony Sherratt, jailed for 13 months in 2019 for driving a stolen car so “enormously intoxicated” that he could not even remember crashing.
