The fine arts department is growing in enrollment. A new FTE has been hired for the color guard program. A new mariachi program is prepared to launch: Spring 2025. Lockhart ISD has hired a new band director for LHS.

The new extension for the Lockhart High school is ahead of schedule. The new two story academic wing is scheduled to be completed by Jan 2025. The new cafeteria addition is scheduled to be completed by the first day of school, August 20, 2024.

“Gifted And Talented” program is still being implemented and invested in all Lockhart ISD schools.

Teachers are being asked to not require students to bring standard school materials… “those things are being purchased by the school district” says Estrada.

All schools are updating cameras for key areas. Full installation of an audio/video emergency “panic button” is currently being installed in all elementary schools. If a success, this emergency “panic button” will be installed in all Lockhart ISD schools.

Lockhart ISD is currently ensuring all safety protocols. School safety training begins August, 6 2024. Lockhart ISD currently has two programs ensuring law enforcement.
