For the 7th consecutive year, Houston County School District’s SAT scores have outperformed the state & nation. Our students earned a mean total score of 1,051, which is 48 points higher than the national & 6 points above the state. Congratulations students & staff!

Dr. Karen Phillips, a teacher at Westside Elementary, received a 2023 Professional Association of Georgia Educators Educator Grant. With these funds, Dr. Phillips will enhance math instruction in grades 3–5 to increase fluency, understanding, & application of math practices.

Mrs. Jessica Story was recently named as the Houston County School District’s Media Specialist of the Year. Mrs. Story is a media specialist at Hilltop Elementary School in Bonaire. She will advance to represent the Houston County School District at the regional level.

Air Force Junior ROTC Black Knight Cadets of Houston County High and Warhawk Cadets of Veterans High recently earned an overall unit assessment score of “Exceeds Standards," the highest rating attainable, during a recent formal unit evaluation by the Department of the Air Force.

Last week, 37 teachers from across our District completed the Houston County Teacher Leadership Academy. The Academy is designed for teachers who want to support, cultivate, and lead the work of the school's Professional Learning Community. Congratulations, graduates!
