Last month, a Mobile Transformer Unit completed a 2,000 km journey from Winnipeg to arrive at our Orillia Transmission Station. This is part of our investment to strengthen the electrical grid and improve resiliency for communities in Orillia and across Simcoe County.

Restoration work is still ongoing for customers impacted by the recent severe weather, and crews are continuing to work safely and steadily. These hand‑painted notes from the preschoolers at North Hastings Children’s Services in #Bancroft were shared with our teams during this time. Thoughtful moments like this are felt deeply by our crews and help remind them their work truly matters.

Asking for a friend
@HydroOne, can someone tell me why, after moving to Ontario in the fall of 2024, we've experienced more power outages in the 19 months we've been here than we experienced in 20 years in Alberta?

Severe winter weather continues to impact parts of Ontario, and some roads remain closed, delaying access in affected areas. In #CentralOntario, crews are restoring power following blizzard conditions, and where safe, snowmobiles are being used to reach customers in hard to access locations. Strong winds are expected to continue today along the shorelines of #LakeHuron and #GeorgianBay. In #EasternOntario, severe winds that began overnight are forecast to continue through this evening, and additional outages are possible. Stay 10m away from fallen power lines and report it to 911 and Hydro One at 1-800-434-1235.

Our crews are responding to outages caused by severe winds overnight that brought down tree branches and limbs onto powerlines. High winds are expected to continue into the early evening today. In some parts of central Ontario, road closures are still in place. Our crews are ready to respond once roads reopen. Where safe, crews are using snowmobiles to reach customers. Please continue to prepare for the potential of an extended outage as severe weather is forecasted into tomorrow in some areas. This includes restocking your emergency kit with items like water, nonperishable food and cash. How to report or track an outage: ✅Use our outage map: hyd1.ca/3NHSSKu ✅Call our team at: 1-800-434-1235 Safety reminders ✅Stay 10 metres away from fallen power lines (that's the length of a school bus). ✅Report it to 911 and to our team at 1-800-434-1235. ✅If you’re using a generator, make sure it's outside and away from windows or ventilation.

@HydroOne Always just says 'Pending classification' on the outage map. This appears to be an over-used catchall that should be addressed.

As crews continue responding to outages as safely and as quickly as possible, some customers will remain without power overnight due to severe weather and road closures. Areas affected include Manitoulin Island and Sudbury, where blizzard conditions have closed road access. High winds are also beginning to impact more southern parts of the province. Our crews are ready to respond as soon as roads reopen, and it is safe to do so. To report or track an outage, text 92887 (WATTS) or use our outage map: ow.ly/UNz850Yv0LM.

@HydroOne Please give honest time estimates on when power will be restored. People are planning around the outage map and it’s dependent on your map whether they get a generator in place or hire somebody to check on their buildings. People want a realistic ETR not a lie.
