House Bill 4471 is a de facto ban on Glock pistols in Illinois. State Rep. C.D. Today, Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie stood on the House Floor to speak to the lack of accountability from the Governor and the ongoing mismanagement of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). McCombie called for a moment of silence for Markell Pierce, an 8-year-old boy who died this February after DCFS failed him. "In this horrific tragedy, DCFS had eight chances to help this child, and on the ninth hotline call, he was dead," said McCombie. "Eight chances, eight failures." Leader McCombie pointed to the troubling pattern of mismanagement at the agency tasked with protecting Illinois' most vulnerable children and the Governor's refusal to own the issue. She called on the Speaker to establish a formal, bipartisan working group on child welfare to find solutions to these tragic failures. In closing, McCombie called for Governor Pritzker to put as much effort into governing Illinois as he puts into fighting the federal government. #twill
