It was great to welcome the Illinois Association of School Boards to Springfield for their Advocacy Day and to spend time with school board members and superintendents from across our state — including leaders from Proviso Township High School District 209, where I was proud to serve and chair the board for 10 years. Strong schools build strong communities, and I’ll always value the chance to hear directly from the local leaders doing the work for our students every day.

What a great looking group! 🤩 Advocacy Day was a success in Springfield yesterday. School board members from across the state gathered to advocate for strong state funding for public education and policies that support Illinois students and communities. ⭐️

Big Thank You to the school board members who joined us for the first work session for IASB's member-driven strategic planning initiative. The core planning team met on Friday & Saturday to review member feedback & begin identifying strategic opportunities to move IASB forward.

🚨 IASB Call To Action: Oppose to HB4416, which makes education support personnel eligible for unemployment benefits. The proposal, costing $450+ million, will raise district costs and divert limited funding away from classrooms and student services. iasb.com/advocacy/legis…
