𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 Saturday night, IMPD once again partnered with the Cumberland Metropolitan Police Department (CMPD) and the Indiana State Police (ISP) to proactively address reckless driving, street racing, and spinning activity across the city. Our combined efforts resulted in: - 7 felony arrests - 13 citations / warnings issued - several cars impounded During one traffic stop, officers recovered an AR-style rifle from a 13‑year‑old and a handgun equipped with a machine gun conversion device from a 20‑year‑old. Both individuals had been seen hanging out the window of a moving car, waving the firearms. Additionally, two vehicle pursuits were prevented by successful Grappler deployments. We recognize that reckless driving can lead to other dangerous and reckless behaviors. Our targeted enforcement efforts will continue, and we will use every tool available to hold offenders accountable. Community members with knowledge of illegal spinning, street takeovers, or reckless driving are urged to call 911 or the non-emergency line at 317-327-3811. 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫: 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫 On April 13, 2026, around 12:45 a.m., an IMPD North District officer proactively checked on a shots fired run near 34th and Meridian and quickly connected it to an attempted armed carjacking at the Indiana Blood Center. After speaking to a victim and several witnesses, officers learned the suspect, Maximilian Coleman, demanded the victim’s vehicle at gunpoint before firing shots. Officers recovered a handgun and a shell casing nearby and discovered damage to the victim’s vehicle. Officers quickly spotted Coleman and issued several verbal commands for him to stop, but he did not listen and walked aggressively towards officers. One officer deployed a taser and took Coleman to the ground. As officers attempted to handcuff him, he tried to take the gun from an officer’s holster. Eventually, thanks to coordinated efforts by responding officers, Coleman was taken into custody. He now faces multiple felony charges, including attempted disarming of and resisting law enforcement, unlawful carrying of a handgun, and criminal recklessness. Thankfully, no other uninvolved community members or officers were injured 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐃 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 On April 12, 2026, around 6:45 p.m, IMPD Northwest District officers encountered a dangerous situation at Riverside Park when a vehicle drove around barricades and entered through an exit lane. When an IMPD Sergeant approached the vehicle, she observed a passenger with a long gun between his legs. As the Sergeant repositioned, the driver, identified as Dailen Brewer, appeared to point a revolver in her direction. Brewer made a gesture like he pulled the trigger, but the gun did not fire. He looked down at his gun as if he were surprised by this. The Sergeant drew her own gun and ordered Brewer to open the car door, which he did. He then dropped the revolver and raised both hands. With the assistance of other responding officers, both Brewer and the passenger were taken into custody without further incident. Officers recovered the revolver and an AR-style firearm inside the vehicle. Brewer was arrested on several felony charges. The passenger was released. “In both of these incidents, our officers were faced with rapidly escalating and extremely dangerous situations in which firearms were pointed at officers, and, in one case, an attempt was made to disarm an officer,” said Chief Tanya Terry. “In each moment, our officers responded with professionalism and action, maintained control under extreme pressure, and prevented what could have been tragic outcomes. Brian Lambert, Brian.Lambert@indy.gov *Media inquiries should be made to IMPD.PublicAffairs@indy.gov* The information provided is preliminary and subject to change. On April 8, 2026, just before 8:00 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Southwest District officers responded to the 1200 block of W Sumner Avenue on the report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they located an adult male, believed to have been shot by the suspect, outside the home with a graze wound to his neck. As officers were rendering aid, the suspect began firing shots from an upstairs window of a nearby home. At this point, at least one IMPD officer returned fire. Additional officers arrived and received information that a child was possibly inside the home and in danger. Officers entered the home to look for anyone injured or in danger, locate the suspect, and prevent further harm. They safely escorted two adults and two children from the home, all of whom reported to be physically uninjured. Officers located an adult male, believed to be the suspect, upstairs with apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The male with the graze wound, whom officers were initially called to assist, was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Detectives located a weapon near the suspect on the second floor of the home. A photo is attached. There are no known injuries to officers or uninvolved community members. The officer who discharged his firearm was equipped with a body-worn camera, which was activated. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to collect potential forensic evidence. The IMPD Critical Incident Response Team is leading the criminal investigation. A separate administrative investigation is being conducted by IMPD Internal Affairs. As standard procedure in officer-involved shooting incidents, the involved officer has been placed on administrative leave. Following the criminal investigation, the civilian-majority Use of Force Review Board will hold a mandatory hearing regarding the attempted use of deadly force. The Police Officer Support Team (POST) responded to provide peer support for those involved. The IMPD Victim Assistance unit responded to assist officers and detectives. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Brian Lambert at the IMPD Homicide Office at 317-327-3475, or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous. Case Number: IP260026875

Meridian Street and E. Georgia Street that left an adult male injured. On Friday, April 10, 2026, at approximately 2:45a.m., IMPD Downtown District officers were dispatched to the intersection of S. Meridian Street and E. Georgia Street on a report of a person shot. Officers arrived on-scene and were initially unable to locate a victim. Minutes later, an adult male walked into an area hospital with injuries consistent with a gunshot would. The male victim was thankfully in stable condition. Immediately following the shooting, numerous 911 callers provided a description of a person possibly responsible for the shooting. Downtown District officers patrolling the area located a male matching the description, later identified as Haro, walking southbound on S. Meridian Street. Officers detained Haro and another adult male without issue. The second male was later released pending further investigation. A firearm was also recovered nearby where Haro was initially stopped. Following consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO), Haro was arrested on the following preliminary charges: -Criminal Recklessness (Level 5 Felony) -Criminal Recklessness (Level 6 Felony) -Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun (Level 5 Felony) An arrest is merely an accusation, and Haro should be considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The MCPO will ultimately make the final charging decision. Case: IP260027219

𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗗 𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗖 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗦𝗔𝗠 IMPD Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) detectives have arrested 32-year-old Dillon Kruger on the preliminary charge of possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). On April 4, 2026, IMPD Northwest District officers responded to Kruger’s home on a report of a suspicious person. Officers met with the complainant, who told them he had been communicating Kruger under the guise of a young girl and believed Kruger was in possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Officers notified ICAC detectives and completed a report. Because the allegations against Kruger stemmed from vigilante-gathered information, they circumvented the legally defensible tactics required for criminal charges in Indiana. However, following this initial interaction on-scene, ICAC detectives initiated a separate, independent criminal investigation through established legal processes. On April 7, 2026, ICAC detectives conducted a consensual encounter in which Kruger voluntarily agreed to speak with detectives and allowed them to look through his cell phone. Detectives discovered evidence of CSAM in Kruger’s possession. After consulting with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO), detectives arrested Kruger on April 8th on the preliminary charge of possession of child sexual abuse material. This arrest occurred because detectives conducted their own independent investigation during which Kruger voluntarily spoke to them and miraculously had not destroyed all evidence after his initial encounter with police. Evidence obtained improperly or outside these procedures can undermine or derail an investigation, potentially allowing offenders to evade accountability and placing victims at greater risk of harm. If you suspect criminal activity or believe a child may be experiencing abuse, neglect, or exploitation, please contact IMPD immediately. Information can also be submitted to the DCS Hotline at 1-800-800-5556 or the National Center for Exploited and Missing Children Cyber tip line: 1-800-843-5678 or report.cybertip.org or Crime Stoppers of Indiana at 317.262.TIPS. We ask that you never confront individuals on your own. Your safety matters, and trained detectives are best equipped to respond and investigate. Working together, we can help protect our most vulnerable. An arrest is merely an accusation, and Kruger is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The MCPO will ultimately make the final charging decision. Case: IP260026746
