I said "big actors that pull" with the clear contrast if Nolans team and in opposition to the OPs statement that the movie essentially couldn't have Greek actors because it needed superstars. I am defining am not moving the goal post, I am clarifying that definition. I clearly acknowledged the other "a listers" know for their face/performance but who most people don't know their real name. My point was Nolan doesn't need to rely on super stars or a cast of 10-20 well known actors. Other great movies have done it with far less.

The criticism of the Odyssey casting veers into delusion once people start demanding Greek actors. This is a major Hollywood film and the fame of the cast matters very much. To demand a film studio risk their film failing in order to cast unknown Greek actors is ridiculous.
Niklander@Niklander3

"Cast Greek people" they say about The Odyssey meanwhile the irony is people can't even come up with a Greek actor. Even the Greek ones who are yelling this can't even mention any Greek actors cause they know that it won't be taken seriously and I speak as a Greek

Only Brad Pitt was a leading man at the time of the movie being made. Orlando Bloom became a leading man in Kingdom of Heaven AFTER Troy. Pirates that happened the year before (not when he was cast) he was perhaps leading man/costar Compare this to Nolan's Iliad Matt Damon Anne Hathaway Tom Holland Zendaya Robert Pattison Charlize Theron Jon Bernthal The above are all leading men/women + Nolan has the 5-10 low tier A-listers who are known more for their faces than their names. The difference is pretty staggering. One used 1-2 super stars (bloom was a growing superstar) and 3-5 veteran a listers who do not lead films.

@ITrudge_o7 ‘Only’ one superstar. Can you hear yourself? And Sean Bean had already done Lord of the Rings, Peter O’Toole was a legend at all times, and Brian Cox had recently done X-Men 2. Orlando Bloom had done LOTR and the first Pirates of the Caribbean. It was an all-star cast

Brad Pitt was the only true super star. Orlando Bloom arguably on his rise after LOTR and Pirates of the Caribbean. Still he played second fiddle to true huge stars like Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp. Those are the 1-2 stars that pull. Bana (this movie gave him fame), peter, cox, and bean are well known faces who don't star in many films. People don't go to see movies because those people are in them. Aka low tier A-listers who people know the faces but not the names of. Sean bean is cool. He doesn't lead or pull. Brian Cox is fantastic his only lead was Churchill, great actor - he doesn't pull. He isn't a A list leading role

@ITrudge_o7 Troy had an entire cast of huge actors. What are you talking about? Brad Pitt, Peter O’Toole, Orlando Bloom, Sean Bean, and Brian Cox were all very famous then and had all done huge films in the year or so years prior

That is part of the reason I love my Libertarian friends. Spending, excise tax, taxes in general, and regulations are out of control Cost of living is insane because the government is willfully making it insane. Libertarians get a lot right. Happy to see some incumbents being primaried. I hope the GOP can continue the trend. Clean up the Senate and house and pass real meaningful regulation. If that is even possible, I still believe it needs to be done through the GOP. The extreme left is too well aligned for the center and right to start splintering. Set the GOP straight. Then reconfigure it over the next 2-8 years to what it has always claimed to be but fallen short of.

Yea, the not believing in borders existing is on the extreme side of libertarianism but it is the corrupt incoherent actually anarchist side of the libertarian side It is the inevitable reality of a political group going to the extreme and a great illustration of why extremism is almost always bad and corrupting If you follow libertarianism to its inevitable end it becomes a why do rules or government even exist at all. That is absurd and is actually anarchism But you don't throw the baby out with the bath water and I certainly wouldn't want to completely disenfranchise the entire libertarian parties and their associates, pushing them to the enemies side, just because they house a fair amount of nut jobs

Massie is a grandstanding obstructionist and he hates Trump so much he is trying to destroy the very party he is apart of - regardless of the good that could be getting done. 4 years of democrat rule and not a word about epstein. Trump admin makes it their focus and Massie calls the Republican party the party of Epstein, when the Republicans were the ones planning to release it. I think when Thomas Massie pushed for the Epstein files and was threatening to release information he thoroughly thought it would never come out. He thought this would be his poison pill to defeat Trump, slander the Republican party, all to make himself look like this great Epstein warrior. (4 years of silence during the democrats majority!!!) It backfired, after 5 years, 4 democrat ruled, and 1 Republican the Epstein files were released and Thomas Massie still didn't change his tune and praise Trump or the Republicans for their current efforts. I'm not happy with the state of the Epstein files but what Trump has accomplished in office in just one year is amazing and here is Massie trying to destroy the administration Thomas Massie is one of the reasons we can't get anything done in Congress despite a Republican Senate majority. He IS the problem.

Massie's not only the most conservative member of congress - in the freedom and constitutionalist sense - but also the smartest. He graduated from MIT with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and while there, invented a haptic computer interface, founded a technology company in his dorm room, got dozens of patents, and made millions of dollars. Today the tech he invented is used in surgical training, robotics, and molecular research, among other things.
Alex Clark@yoalexrapz

The commentary online I’m seeing insinuating that “Thomas Massie is a Democrat” because he spars with Trump is literal retard boomer propaganda for the lowest of IQ individuals. Massie is probably the most conservative member of Congress what are you even talking about? Massie sticks to conservative principles even when politically inconvenient which is WHY Trump doesn’t like him. Trump doesn’t want you to vote for Massie over vanity reasons not because he is a “Democrat”. •He votes against “emergency” power grabs and bipartisan consensus bills that most Republicans eventually cave on. •He’s one of the few members who regularly reads and publicly critiques the actual text of legislation instead of just voting with leadership. •He opposed COVID lockdown policies, vaccine mandates, and massive pandemic spending earlier and more consistently than many Republicans who later rebranded as anti-lockdown. •He’s unusually hostile to corporate welfare, subsidies, and government-backed market manipulation, not just Democratic programs. •He frequently takes positions that hurt him politically or socially in DC because he prioritizes constitutional consistency over party optics. •He’s skeptical of the intelligence/security apparatus in a way that aligns with old-school civil-libertarian conservatism. •He has a long track record of voting against omnibus packages that many “conservative” Republicans publicly complain about but ultimately support because they are WEAK. He’s the most ideologically consistent. People may dislike his positions, but it’s hard to argue he’s transactional or opportunistic. He’s one of the rare Republicans whose voting record often aligns almost perfectly with a STRICT interpretation of limited federal power. He’s the most conservative member of Congress do not lose him!!!

Excise taxes are theft. If excise taxes and excessive regulations were removed America would begin becoming affordable again. State income tax shouldn't exist either and if it does maybe at 1%. Residential property shouldn't exist. American's are being turned upside down and shook for all our pocket money by our own government, it needs to stop. America is unaffordable because the government has determined to make it unaffordable.

Right, well I was attempting to give you the benefit of the doubt but your argument, in disagreeing with me entirely, means you're asserting Michelangelo, his fellow master architects of the high Renaissance era and the great sculptures and architects of the baroque eras are not talented artists and what we see today is not a result of modern day art degree feckless idiots drowning out true artistry in functional and beautiful artisan works and architecture, due to a greater systemic education driven decline in true mastery. Arguing against you at that point would be like explaining why the earth isn't flat, really not worth my time. It is just too devoid of intelligence to think anything I said would be understood.

The entire point of the post I replied agreeing too was stating not people with "an art degree" (collegially trained expressionist artists only, mostly feckless, and often misguided trend followers). My statements were bashing the "credentialed pretentious art school graduate" I agree with you, you just seemed to of misunderstood my assertions. I could have elaborated more and stated the obvious better "Master Craftsmen & talented artists" However, I guarantee you these individuals considered their great works, works of art and yes, they were known as master craftsmen, artisans, master masons, stone carvers and so forth and they were highly praised and sought after not only for their technical prowess but also for their artist expression. They would be insulted to not be considered artists, as they wore that title among their other titles proudly, back when artists were not just pretentious credentialed idiots.
