The Modi govt is shitting bricks at the meteoric rise of the Cockroach Janta Party. They are trying everything to derail them, by setting up parallel accounts, defaming them & now ordering the blocking of their accounts. Their Instagram followers are now over 13.9M (almost double of BJP. But like cockroaches they will continue to rise!
Abhijeet Dipke@abhijeet_dipke

As expected Cockroach Janta Party’s account has been withheld in India.

Rajasthan PCC@INCRajasthan

पढ़ें अतुल देव का यह लेख: hindi.caravanmagazine.in/law/surya-kant… #CJI #Corruption

#Imp: The blocking of Cockroach Janta Party’s Twitter account shows that the present BJP government has completely lost the plot when it comes to dealing with genuine democratic voice of the country’s entire future generation. A regime so insecure that it fears satire, dissent, and youth expression exposes its political decay and regressive mindset. Such fascistic censorship cannot, and will not, survive forever. In fact, it has only scored a MASSIVE self-goal. The government’s power derives legitimacy ONLY so long as people LEND it credibility and continue to believe in its moral authority. The moment citizens begin to see its action as arbitrary, vindictive, and politically malicious, that legitimacy ceases to exist. The blocking of CJP’s Twitter handle, and the repeated attempts to target and disrupt its Instagram presence which has grown MASSIVELY, unseen in recent history, is nothing but an ILLEGITIMATE exercise of power carried out in absolutely bad faith. It internationally spotlights the RAPIDLY deteriorating condition of our free speech, free expression, civic liberty, and democratic culture. It is also an assault on the constitutional guarantee of peaceful assembly, political participation, and our non-negotiable right to dissent. This censorship epitomises EVERYTHING that stands AGAINST the very idea of India. Attempting to silence an ENTIRE GENERATION’S voice because it perhaps refuses to conform to the present system and state of affairs is authoritarian INSECURITY. History is witness: regimes that begin fearing jokes, hashtags, students, artists, and young citizens are usually regimes that have already started losing the battle.

Mr Umar Khalid has again been denied bail -- not even interim bail for 15 days to assist his mother during a scheduled medical procedure. Justice Krishna Iyer's dictum was laid down in 1977. It may be perhaps found only in textbooks and presumably not applicable to real cases and real accused. The Trial Courts seem to think that 'we shall oblige the police and send the accused to jail and let the accused secure bail from the higher Courts (HC and SC). This is abdication of duty. If the Trial Courts did their work and applied the law, the burden on the High Courts and the Supreme Court will reduce considerably And so many thousands of under-trials will not languish in prison without charges being framed, without a trial and without a punishment It is rightly said that 'the process is the punishment'

#Breaking TMC MP Mahua Moitra has appeared before the Calcutta High Court challenging the WB Govt’s restrictions on cattle slaughter ahead of #Eid-Al-Adha. Moitra appeared in a plea filed by #TMC MLA Md Akhruzzaman. Notably, the state’s notification says that the animal’s ‘fit to be slaughtered’ would have to be permanently incapacitated or above 14 years age. @MahuaMoitra

The case was transferred to CBI soon after the first set of arrests #CBI yday moved to court seeking release of Raj Singh, calling it a wrong arrest. Court accepted the plea & ordered Singh’s release Raj’s family had maintained that he was in UP when the incident happened. The Cockroach Janta Party has acquired >10.3M followers on Instagram in 4 days, more than BJP. It has promise if steered wisely & imaginatively. It must of course raise Neet paper leak & seek accountability of Dharmendra Pradhan. But time to demand a right to Employment law. All people between 21 & 60 must have the right to be employed at least on minimum wages, failing which they must receive unemployment allowance
Prashant Bhushan@pbhushan1

CJI’s cockroach remark has sparked a mini GenZ revolution in India. It has great potential but should be steered carefully. To begin with they should start a movement on Employment by demanding a Right to employment Law

Many journalists have been asking me whether this GenZ movement will turn into what happened in Nepal or Bangladesh. Let me make this absolutely clear. Do not insult or underestimate the GenZ of India by making such comparisons. The youth of this country are far more mature, aware, and politically conscious than many give them credit for. They understand their constitutional rights and will express their dissent through peaceful and democratic means. And please, do not demean them. Many of these young people are far more educated and informed than those currently running the government.

“Tyranny of the unelected” was used in reference to judges for what the Hon’ble MP viewed as judicial “manmarzi” in several matters, including appointments to various bodies. Concerns about judicial overreach and lack of accountability are HARDLY IMAGINARY. So many of them are reflected in many of the courts’ own orders and institutional practices. Entire volumes could be written documenting such instances. If someone chooses to call this out, then what exactly is wrong with that? And more importantly, why should such criticism be beyond discussion in a constitutional democracy? A judge’s residence can be found with crores of rupees in cash BURNING, yet NO FIR follows. But if citizens question the institution or criticise its functioning, they have to risk such contempt proceedings? And then the court will want public trust and respect?!
